With almost everyone agreeing to the fact that PIs are highly luck-based and not the most perfect way of evaluating a candidate, is it not good to have an institute not having a PI factor for a change ? Almost all of us, atleast once, might have been victims of the external variables at play during PIs and their very subjective nature. Adding to this the recent experiences of having very short interviews ( IIML for instance), the admission process seems like a complete travesty. As if 20-30 minutes wasn't unfair enough, they are now down to 5-10 minutes. Beggars can't be choosers anyway, so what is, will remain.


Let me get this straight. With the diverse academic backgrounds from which people appear for CAT, having CAT scores as the predominant factor for admissions in all the institutes would be more unfair. I would never want that. But given the fact that all the top B-Schools have PI as a component, mostly predominant, it wouldn't do much harm to have an institute which doesn't have it at all.

 

P.S. I hope FMS reads this. LOL.

Any data available for CW and PWD? With avg acad and work ex what is the cat %ile required for 1. Getting shortlisted for PI (if PI takes place) 2. Direct acceptance (if no PI) Any past data on the avg/lowest cat %ile of CW and PWD students at FMS? See a lot of post for GEN and NC-OBC and a few the rest, saw none for PWD, if someone knows about PWD please do share. TIA

Just putting it out there, I heard from someone who's friends with an FMS student, that PI will happen, most probably in May. Don't know the validity of the statement, since FMS students on PG are not certain yet, but, be prepared for a PI after most results are in.
