Slot: 4th Nov 2012 , 10:00 A.M.
1) Attempts made : Sec-1 : 19, Sec-2 : 29 , OA: 48
2) Last mock score : Varied from 95-99.5
3) Test experience - Smooth. No Glitches. No extra sheets were provided.
4) Surprise element (if there was any)?
1st question in quant was repeated from my last year's CAT.
5) Tips on better handling of the exam?
Don't stare at the screen too much. If one section is difficult than other would be easy. Key is to maintain composure throughout the test.
6) Overall analysis? Incl. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
Toughness : Section 1 - Difficult, Section 2 - Moderate-Easy
Section 1 was extremely difficult. I usually attempt 23-25 questions in a mock. But today it was not so. Only 2-3 sitters. DI was difficult as well. Out of 3 sets 1 was easy but had tricky questions. Another one was moderate but again very tricky. Could easily lead people to commit mistakes. Couldn't read the 3rd one. Was one of those LR-DI sets.
3 questions from geometry. Rest all of the topics also made their presence felt. TWD, Functions, Coordinate, Log, Algebra, 3 Variable venn diagram, P&L;, each one had a question or two. Overall, a raw score of 42-45 should definitely get you a percentile of 95+
Section 2 was comparatively easy. LR was definitely doable. 1 RC was out of the world. Other two were easy to read but had close options. 6 out of the 10 RC questions were inference/tone based. 2 PC's. Both difficult. 2 SC's - pretty easy. 2 PJ - doable.. 1 WU - Tricky.
2 out of context - doable.
LR was pretty straight-forward with 3*3 = 9 questions. Unfortunately couldn't attempt one LR question as time ran out.
Overall verdict - A raw score of 100 should definitely fetch 99+. 106-110 should be good enough for a Joka call.
7) Any other query or something you would like to share-
NA
1) How many attempts you have made?(18, 24-25)=42-43
2) Your last mock score? If you are there at repository thread, please provide the link here.
Used to give them in pdf format. CL proc mock scores range between 70-80, except PM2
3) How was your experience of the test?
Good.
4) What was the surprise element for you?
Nothing.
5) Any tips to handle the computer based exam better?
A tutorial will be sufficient.
6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
QA: Moderate, 14 ques were easy-moderate (6 ques were directly from cl/time mocks with slight tweaking)

VA/LR- LR was very easy, VA- Pata nai, 3PJs: one was surely difficult, 2PC: Moderate-Diff, 2SC: I found moderate. RC: 1 was good overall, other was good to read however all ques were of marco level(inference, summary, tone etc.), one was surely difficult from reading to ques, although i somehow did it

7) Any other query or something you would like to share.
You can find ample amount of ques to score good so be focused while giving d test and answer only those which u r sure of atleast in quant. ATB! if still ppl are remaining

PS: Can PM me fo pattern related details. Won't be discussing answers

3) How was your experience of the test?
Smooth, no complaints.
4) What was the surprise element for you?
Nothing as such.
5) Any tips to handle the computer based exam better?
.........
6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
Sec1 : The paper was very easy, 25 is the ideal attempt in case of SEC1.
1 DI was very tough, some sums were time consuming, a lot of sums can be solved using options, the key is to navigate fast and do speed o-calculation[I wish I were a bit fast with numbers]
Sec2 : Frustrated with no. of less attempts in 1st sec. I decided to maintain a high accuracy here, LRs were okay, 1 was time consuming/tough..key here is to identify 2 east LRs and solve them...PJ,PC,WU,SC all were easy/comprehend able compared to that of last year's paper.Attempted 1 RC(Team Bonding & leadership)
7) Any other query or something you would like to share.
Questions are varying from person to person in the same slot...a very well balanced paper
...........If anyone anxious to discuss do PM me.................
DI :Computers & printers
Venn:Cricket-basketball...
RC:Team bonding
LR: Music DVDs, original price, discount etc.

CAT showed me its calibre finally. After my first attempt last year I had not prepared at all but had managed to do decently. Is Bar brought me down. Real tough paper.
1) How many attempts you have made?
Sec1~22, Sec2~30
2) Your last mock score? If you are there at repository thread, please provide the link here.
Kuch mocks nahi diya.. But CAT 2011 mein 95.xx percentile.
3) How was your experience of the test?
Smooth, no complaints.
4) What was the surprise element for you?
QA-DI will make you cry. Literally. QA is my strong point. Average QA normally I am able to attempt correctly. Is bar questions were of not an attemptable level itself.
.........
6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
Sec1 : The paper was tough, 20+ is the god level attempts in case of SEC1.
2 DI was very tough, time consuming and calculation intensive (read as dont even dare attempt if you want to attempt other questions) , use options, try as fast as you can.
Sec2 : 30 attempts. Easy. This made up for tough QA DI. I mean this was a cakewalk. I could feel the difference in level. Start kiya. First 3 minutes 3 LR questions on 3 variable VENN. Piece of cake. Good confidence level. Next really easy Word usage question. PJ's were the only moderate level questions. LR- cake walk. there was odd one out- moderate.
7) Any other query or something you would like to share.
Questions are a mixed bag. Bouncers with easy ones there. Depends a lot on your mindframe. I had an easy QA question on time distance which should normally be a 1 minute affair. But took me 3 rounds of looking to get it right.
@madbash said:@LeoN88 : Bhai.. i have been following you since quite sometime. Didn't know you had the billi today. But must say If you have attempted 18, tough paper tha.. Cheers. All the Best.
My paper was very easy......Yes sec1 was filled with lengthy sums but I see everyone has attempted 25+ in Sec2......should have attempted more there........Start preparing for GDPI l ATB

4) Surprise element (if there was any)?
No Time speed distance and venn diagrams
5) Tips on better handling of the exam?
Give a mock to get familiarized with online pattern. And please scan through all the questions.
Usually you tend to get easier ones (sitters) towards the end. If you are stuck please move ahead.
6) Overall analysis? Incl. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.
Toughness : Section 1 - Moderate - Difficult.
Hardly 2 sitters.
3 questions from geometry which included 2 from co - ordinate geometry on circles.
1 series.
2 functions.
4 numbers
3 logarithms
1 trigonometry
2 time and work
Section 2 :
1 LR was easy ..rest two were moderate.
All RC's were lengthy..I had one with 8 paragraphs
Questions on tone of the author and what inference can be drwan except..n all were there.
3 PJ 1 easy 2 diffic
3 FIB - 2 easy 1 diff
1 out of context...rest dont remeber..
All the best for guys who are yet to take ..

Lengthy calculations.Questions weren't that tough, but did take a lot of time.
