@vishcat yeah that seems to be a prety neat plan as well.....I prefer to cement my concepts as I go along rather than leave everything for later(mostly coz i have a memory problem-i forget theory fast .........like i even forget I read that particular piece of theory 😐 ) .........I have talked to some people and everyone has a different plan.....the one that you mentioned is followed by many and has resulted in success 😃 basically its about finding what you are cmfortable with
oh then I guess TIME will suit you perfectly fine.....I have heard only negative reviews about IMS....CL i have heeard is pretty good in delhi region.....I dont know anyone in bangalore...
TIME jaynagar again I dont know anyone who goes there....but I am sure there will be some here on PG who do.....just do a search here...
Ok..appreciate ur help @UpsD ! Puys anyone taking classes in TIME/CL Jayanagar centres? How is the faculty down here? Which should be ideal to join? Is IMS ne of good?
hi everyone, I am a 3rd year b.tech student in chemical engineering. My past acads are-
10th- 90%(cbse)
12th- 81%(cbse)
grad- 65%(upto 5th sem).
With my past acads what chance do I have at older IIMs.
I ask this question now as I feel that its high time that I choose between CAT/GATE/GRE and if I don't have a decent shot at the old IIMs now, I might go all guns at GATE and work for couple of years to boost my profile before going for CAT.
An objective and informative answer (minus the 'where your interests lie' bull) will be highly appreciated.

IIM C,L is there for you with 99.6x%ile and for IIM A 99.9x%ile (criteria might change..i just gave for 2013-15 batch)
I agree that but my literal meaning of 90+ile is more than 98+ile(but i did not want to show off). As you have read my query then my main concern is about my academic background that i score less in my graduation(65%).
So, can a Good B school( u mentioned in your last post) will consider only my academic background or CAT score.
How much weightage a good B school(IIM's , XLRI, FMS, MDI etc) gives to your CAT/XAT score and academic background?
Could you please elaborate the criteria of creamy sections of B schools(IIM's , XLRI, FMS, MDI etc)?
Would request you to please give me some idea related to my query.
@Apurav90 Actually my reply was specifically keeping ur profile in mind... 😃 I dont understand which part of my reply u cud'nt understand as it was pretty straight-forward....So let me speak figuratively--->
1) Your class-10 score & B.Com score has severely dented ur chances in ABKIS.
2) Ur B.Com score has resulted in ur reqd CAT score for C to jump up to 333.22 (99.87+) while others are gonna need 99.61 (ppl with >80 in both 10 & 12)
3) Being a non-engg will help u get a call from L at 99.4+ to be safe (It wud be lower for any other non-engg but ur class-10 & grad score is a minor deterrent here).
4) For the new IIMs, the cut-off is 97%ile. But since ur acads are a negative factor, a score of 98+ is gonna definitely suffice (coz CAT score is a major major factor for them)
5) FMS & MDI has almost 70% weightage to CAT score, so one with a higher score is gonna convert easily. It does'nt matter what ur profile is or how much weightage is given to other parameters, one with 99.5 will almost certainly convert unless he/she is really really bad. For XLRI, it is a balanced criteria. It does'nt straightaway eliminate u if u dont have X score in class-10, Y score in Class-12 etc etc. Everyone has almost equal chances of converting. But obviously, for a guy with average acads, u need to have 99+ in XAT & good performance in the PI stage to offset the negative effect of ur profile [whose effect is not much, by the way!]. Similarly for NITIE, IIT-B, IIT-D it does'nt matter what the different weightages are. It is practically impossible for a 99.5+ guy to get rejected here, THEY JUST WONT (unless he/she has calls from ABCL, XL, FMS & they realize that he/she is never gonna join here]!!!!
I have tried to make things as clear as I possibly could. Plz stop thinking about the weightages as they dont really matter. Keep these figures in mind & they are gonna serve u just fine. If u still wanna know the EXACT weightages, there is this thing called GOOGLE that will give u the exact figures :)
I have decided to buy TestFunda's complete material + TIME'S Advanced Correspondence course. I live in quite a remote area (Siliguri) and hence only IMS has a classroom coaching facility. But as i have haven't heard any positive feedback about IMS in general, would it be enough to have TestFunda & TIME material (with all their respective mock tests like AIMCATS) ? Or should i also buy another material or test series?

IMO ARUN SHARMA or ARIHANTs books will help...generally people have one coaching material with one open book available in markets
what about indore and kozhikhode? Also if possible please post the links from where you are calculating the required percentiles.
percentile cut off i got from this year's IIM call getters thread.....you can use the search button at the right top of your page e.g: [2013-15]IIM I call getters there puys shortlisted had posted their profiles as well....you can have exhaustive ideas about cut offs, gdpi processes and criteria from the respective threads :)
