What calls can I expect if I just touch 99%ile.
@bs0409 Well I can say this with some confidence..very few.. I have an OA of 99.6 in this yrs CAT, with a profile of 93.3,93 (in ICSE) and 7.5, 8.5 (BTech+MTech) Dual Degree.... no calls so far(except for new IIMs), work ex of 3 months
You would get additional marks for diversity and work ex though, and so I would say keep ur target as 99.5 to guarantee a couple of calls.. :)

Arihant has a good(really fat) series of books called Quantum CAT, u cud try starting with those.. they are very clear adnd concepts based and have a very large set of problems...

@punter24 hey i can understand the position u are in..and yes work for an NGO or for coaching may be more satisfying than for a company...
but ur board marks and grad marks will really not leave much scope for you..u cud try one of the newer IIMs or a 2nd tier college if u get a good CAT result..but at the end might get placed at a company that pays lower than what u make already..
the choice is urs to make..but its a really tough call for u buddy..i guess u shud just go ahead and do what ur heart wants but keep in mind the risks...

For VA.. Read as much articles as you can from The Hindu, Economist.. atleast 3-4 artciles a day.. that would suffice :)

You can expect anything from IIMs each & every year.. No one can predict anything.. Hence, your target should always be ideally 100%ile.. All the best :)
@ShuvamJoy Here comes another guy with all sorts of false info 😃 Before u start spilling fire on me, let me tell u a few things-
1) The 96 example that I gave was of my best friend who got rejected (yes, he had a measly 69.3% in engg but still....). The examples that u are giving are just so hilarious. 20/20 for 93% in WB & 17/20 for 89% 😁 Forget me, anyone has to be deluded to believe that u get 20/20 for only 93% when someone with 97.4% in ICSE (top-5 in country) gets 18/20.... 😁 I am naming someone & u can verify that- Rahul Banerjee of South Point got 88% in HS and he got only 8.43/20.
2) see buddy u will go on naming every other 3rd person & I will do the same & it will take us nowhere. u may be free at this moment but I have several high profile interviews to attend in the next 2months, so i cannot afford to waste time on this junk. If u believe that someone with 88% can get through & WB is the LUCKY board, then good for u. U will be sitting for CAT again & u will find out the harsh reality for urself. Does'nt make much sense in me trying to open ur eyes, specially when I have so many things to do. But today i can confidently proclaim something, that in 5days time when IIM-K list is published, I will get a call but my good friend at CL with 87% in 10 & 12 won't (HS board) [and there will be many like him on PG itself) and thats how confident I am about this skewed/flawed admission process.
3) Finally 1 last thing for ur own benefit, its sad to see someone so delusional. U still live in an utopian world where NORMALIZATION will actually take care of the disadvantages (funny word, this Normalization :)] Try telling that to the MBBS graduates who did'nt get an A call because they dont have 80% (just bcoz it is friggin impossible anywhere) or those Assam board students who got rejected by B as they dont have 85%+ in 10 & 12 (just bcz it cannot be got). For ur own understanding, i request you to go through the profiles of the ppl who will be rejected in 5days time & those who were rejected last year. That should wake u up. Now plz dont drag this. If u dont believe it, u will find out next year anyway, so give it a break.

I'm from A.P board .. Got 91.83 in 10th & 79.00 in 12th.. 
Last year, IIMK gave 3.5 for 10th & 0 for 12th.. Even if I score 125% ile in CAT, I would not be getting a call from IIMK because of this absolute rubbish criteria.. is 79% so bad to deserve 0

@abhinavrules After giving CAT for the first time this year, i realize my mistakes now & can only ask you NOT to do them, if u dont mind. By the way,i heard Byju classes are awesome with their tips & tricks & ideal approaches, u must really be enjoying urself (though i heard that their doubt clearing classes are pretty average). Now the best material that I found along the road-
QA- Quantum CAT (very thorough) + CL (I swear, there were 2 Algebra questions in my actual CAT paper which were ditto from the Sarvesh K Verma book. I straightaway marked the answer :))
LR- TIME (really very good, covers all the topics, CAT and NON-CAT as well, something that the CL material does'nt)+ Arun Sharma (really not that needed unless u still feel u are a bit weak even after 3months of prep)
VA- The biggest mistakes of mine were from this section. One, i ignored the flash cards & i request you PLZ DONT!!! IN NMAT, IIFT, XAT, SNAP, antonyms & synonyms or "what is the meaning of the word used in the passage" inevitably comes, whose meanings are given in the flash cards. So it will essentially take u 15sec to solve 5 questions while ur friends are still wondering what the answer can be, through trial and error. Two, was not doing wren & martin from cover to cover. It really strengthens ur grammar part & helps u develop almost a sort of sixth sense to the errors. Plz do that along with the common book that everyone does, Norman Lewis. RC can only be improved by practise & u dont need anything specific for this. U can solve them from past year papers or CL material. If u do this religiously, then by august, u will be amazed at ur reading speed + ability of picking the right questions. Plus coaching classes do provide u with tips like finding the KEYWORD for PJs, Reading the RC quickly, then going through questions, then again giving a read for greater efficiency etc---these tips are quite common & ur teachers will groom u on this.

@bhargav.nitc Absolutely right 😃 Plz ask anyone from ur board how much someone with even 95% gets & u'l not feel so bad then.... 😃 and dont feel so bad as they treat ALL BOARDS in the same manner, though TN,AP,ICSE,WB,Assam Board and Maharashtra Board seems to be the worst affected.

Why should we bother bhai.. If they don't want us.. y should we crave for them If they doesn't take us, it doesn't mean its the end of the world for us.. There will be several other ways to achieve our dreams, not just a degree from IIM

@bhargav.nitc Bhai there is no need for U to feel bothered...... U are in contention for XLRI BM & HRM which is FAAAAR greater in stature & esteem than K.... Now even if they request u to join them , u still wont 😃 So kya farak parta hain.... :)

For Quants. I would suggest you Arun Sharma, That would be the best material, though it goes on a Information Overload. still u can get almost watever u need in that book

1.No one can predict his/her chances for IIM K before..no matter he is a 100 percentiler
2.the percentage I mentioned was 96% not 93% and for that he stood 56 th in the state:D....and he got 20/20....if u want to know go to Career Launcher Park Street Centre His name is Subhajit:D and more over he is reading your post now:D as I have given him the link on fb:D...U will get to know from CL....eveyone knows him:D:D
3.South Point is famous for getting Less marks in X and XII.....
