[Official] CAT 2013 Aspirants

@mariaantony Over the last 15 days, we have met atleast 3 IIM-C ex-graduates/admission panel members in class. There was one, a B.A graduate from Ashutosh with 2yrs work-ex in IBM BPO but he was clearly forewarned about this. But rather than quoting any source, I would just like to say that its a pretty well-known fact yaar. Its universally accepted that a BPO experience does'nt add anything to ur profile & top colleges don't accept it ( I dont care about the Top-20, I am just talking about the top-12 institutes that are waaay above the rest of the lot). I am surprised that u did'nt know it earlier. See i dont want to destroy anyone's life by suggesting such a horrible job & they put their heart & soul into that menial job, just in the hope of a top degree, and finally when they are rejected based on my advice (to go ahead & join a BPO), i'l be nowhere around---that's criminal on my part....... I know that a lot of guys will bash me for what I am going to say and I request them to PLZ DONT but basically the fact is I don't know WHO got WHAT convert in the early 2000's or when CAT was a paper based test but in this current extremely skewed, complicated & cut-throat admission process, where profile matters so much, I can personally vouch for the fact that it is impossible for a BPO guy to convert a TOP college. The panel members may have told u ANYTHING but they ultimately did'nt take u na?? The administrators always say that ALL CAT papers in ALL slots are of equal difficulty & if they are not, they will be normalised but we all know thats not the truth.....Being a door to door salesman or a tele-marketing guy or a receptionist is also a FULL-TIME job but will that be considered? There is a line where the term "FULL-TIME JOB" ends..... Anyways buddy, U/anyone are free to disregard what I say bcoz I dont feed u/look after u. I am just trying to warn someone (with already a gap year) from a problem that I know they are gonna face in the future.... Tk cr :)

Hii everyone...m preparing for CAT 2013 from Bangalore...
I want to ask about the preparation for VA/RC..how to go about it???

Hey Puys, I just started browsing these forums and got myself registered today. These forum are very informative.Im a commerce student who gave CAT 2012 just for laughs and got
QA 73.12
VA 75.39
OA 75.38
Now i want to study, work hard and give CAT 2013. However, I'm afraid my acads will ruin my hard work.
This is my Profile
Xth 80.2 % C.B.S.E
XIIth 77.2% C.B.S.E
I'm in Final year bcom and expecting 60% graduation.
Im have also cleared Inter-CA and pursuing CA final.
Do i have any chance of getting into the old IIMs provided i have scored a nice percentile in CAT 2013. I have heard IIMs are trying to diversify their batches wtih non-engineers.
Your replies are appreciated!
@vish92 just look for the criterias in the link below and assess......u can surely have a shot........provided u score 99.xx in CAT 2013 :)

Start reading editorials of newspaper.....and learn at-least 10 new words each day from now on...............for RC read fast....read 300wpm words per mintue and increase it gradually

Can any one tell me if i can get a decent college with the following profile:10th - 79.2 %12th- 61.33%Btech in civil engineering- 70.2%Work Experience- 1 year 5 months in a reputed construction company.I am planning to quit my job and join an ngo or a coaching institute as a teacher so that i get time for preparation. Some one please guide me what would be the best option as i have been posted to a remote area and have to work on saturday as well...
Me a site civil engg too.....and faced the same condition..........i had to go to site at sundays too while i had a weekly holiday only......so left after 3weeks.......hate site jobs.....truly speaking continuing a site job wont let you study for exams.......i would recommend you to quit your job just 4months before CAT 13 if you are still at site or join as a lecturer (offers are plenty)
subscribe to some online Mock CATs.......and assess your position......if its well enough to plunge in for CAT 13.....dont hesistate to quit your job.......being a civil engg...u wuld alwayz find job......may have to compromise on salaries 😃 .........or shift to residential projects which are genrally located on cities
