1. University incorporated by central or state legislature or deemed universities as defined in the eligiblity criteria for post graduate program of IIMs.........

3.institutes awardng equivlnt qualifications recognised by ministry of HRD

I am in my 7th sem B.Tech and applied for the CAT for this November . The issue is with the Eligibility form I have to make college sign saying that i have minimum 50% in my " LATEST " exam result . I have decent SGPA in my previous sems but issues , screwed up my 5th sem .
My SGPA in 5th sem now is 5.1 with 3 pending backs to be cleared . So , I wont be eligible for sitting in CAT this time just because my LATEST semester result was bad ??!! My Avg score up to now ( excluding the 5th sem result is about 7.2 ) . Please help me here . The registration and stuff is done , was just completing the forms .
You should not have a back log in order to get admission in a b-school, if your backlog will be cleared before the admission process begins then only you can be selected,otherwise you wont be considered.
So, for now dont mention that u have backlog otherwise you wont be eligible for exam also
I completed my engineering in 2008 and got placed in infosys and tcs but i turned down the offer and started out on my own. The startup had its up and downs and in the end did not go as expected. I would like to do an MBA right now as i think it would complement my business experience and would help me get my career back on track. The trouble is that I have no huge brand names on my resume and also, my undergraduation scores were really low.

@ashishyog in my opinion it should be considered if you can provide sufficient proof. Salary slips or working certificate. Such is the state that teaching is being seen down upon when actually it should be right up there among all the professions.

12th std - 94.5% - tamil nadu state board
BE (ECE) - anna university - 72%

What are my chances that I can get into the top three IIMs (A, B and C)?
@SMS87 I had a similar experience. Just like you i finished my engineering in 2008. And like you i got placed in Infosys. But unlike you didnt turn down the offer:)
Congratulations on starting business on your own. MBA actually should teach us to be 'Job Creators' and not 'Job Seekers'. But there are hardly any entrepreneurs out there. You did it even without an MBA.
If you are planning to do an MBA now then obviously your start up experience will keep you in good stead. Engineers like me are many out there but an experience like what you have is hard to find.
I would say, go for it, start preparing, and IIMs wont be far. All the best. Cheers!!!
hii guys..can anyone plz tell how many scratch papers are provided in cat and what type of pencils are there..like nataraj,,or some apsara extra dark type?

Is it advisable dropping out a year after graduation for CAT preparation?
One may not get enough time for preparing while doing a job or in some other case one may not land a job after graduation ? what would be advise for such a student ? Could doing nothing for a year poses negativeness in MBA interview ?
It doesnt affect too much because you will be counted as fresher only and there are many students in evry b-school who do this. But try not to give gaps, because you have to justify the reason for taking the gap.

how much percentile in the mocks should guarantee an admission in a collage like imt or mdi?
