here is a confusion about total marks...my board had taken exams for 800 marks but for final result only 700 was considered.100 marks was for english language and it was not calculated for aggregate.How it will be considered for CAT...700/800?

whatever marks are there in your final result, sum up all those , divide it by total marks and calculate the respective percentage...
You cant exclude any marks..CAT as well as most exams/colleges considers this method only..

@sr8 Bhai if u are General, then at 99 it is very tough to convert FMS actually. FMS has 120 odd seats for General category (a bit less than 120) & 70% weightage to ur CAT score which is huge. So the high scorers usually build up a sizeable gap with the others that is very very difficult to bridge via PI.... Though there have been some 99%ile converts last year, but they are the aberration, not the rule....99.5+ is a safe score to convert FMS with average PI :)

Considering the Composite Score Cut-off as 72.018 & putting in your class-10 & 12 marks, u wil get the reqd CAT score via simple back-calculation.... and as per the oft-believed notion, it is usually believed that C gives a very fair chance to all candidates who have secured a call, irrespective of their acads. Many with pretty average acads but great WAT+ PI have got a straight convert from this dream institute. At the same time, I would also like to mention that ppl with 99.9+ have a very very very good chance of converting as C (for that matter A & L too), respects the very high scorers [1 of the reasons y i posted it here on the very moment I saw my CAT score that it will be very difficult to CONVERT A,C (that time I thought i will get C) at my percentile :(]

@ABCILK I dont believe at all that during the 3hrs of travel regularly, u cannot carry Flash Cards with u & work on ur Vocab.... Almost every aspirant in our office bus carried flash cards, current affairs magazines or a simple xerox containing verbal questions (which can easily be done mentally) to complete during the hectic travels/break... I so salute their indomitable spirit.... and during Sundays, its not that u are gonna be stuck in tuition throughout the day. So u are gonna be getting a lot of time on Sundays as well... As for the typhoid-wala reason 😃 😁 Yes I have seen a looot of ppl (especially in IT sector) who took a break or spent time on the bench from August. Its a very normal thing 😃 But do this only if u are very very serious about cracking CAT & not just giving it to test urself....If after July, when u have already taken quite a few mocks, u realize that u are really struggling & lagging behind ur friends (85-90 range in mocks) but u know in ur heart that with a little more of the effort, u can crack it, then definitely do it..... But if ur mock scores are in the 70s range or even less during this duration (May-July), then dont take such a step as chances of getting 99%ile is very less....The ppl that I have seen take a break from work were consistently getting 90+, so it was a safe bet for them....
@amit468 Neither bhai... Thats what I said 😃 If u have VERY HIGH CAT score, then chances of conversion are great. But other than that case, profile + mainly, WAT+PI performance is the decider. They wont reject u bcoz u have average acads. Yes they will 100% ask u the reason for it but u just have to give them a great reason, a logical one. Its very fair, so don't worry about C....

@saikatha If you don't mind me replying. 😛 IIM's consider 31-36 as the apt work ex since you'll have enough indusrty exposure that you know in and out of it. At the same time, you are not completely drowned (5+ yrs of exp), which will make full time studies diffcult. According to them it's the right time for you to take a leap into the management side.

I got through nmims bangalore .. but i din join it because i want to give cat a try again .... I got over 84 percentile .. QA : 95 n VA : 56 .. I belong to general category ...
Is it possible to get through any iim or any top bschools like fms,sp jain etc .. With my profile ? ( PS : I want to do MBA the following year) . I know its possible but give me realistic chances...

Your academic credentials are stunning. Why did you score so less in VA? What about XAT ?
What's your graduation in ? BCOM/BE ???
One strategy would be to get into a marketing/finance based entry level roles and work for a year ( this will help you during your summer internship/final placements) and prepare for CAT/XAT of 2013.
If you want to get into marketing as a career, an MBA from top 20 B schools should help you achieve that. However, the brand name of your college certainly plays a role in future promotions as well. Assess your strength and take a call.
