Let me know of the interview date should you get an invite...

hi pradzy,
I am applying for Northeastern MS Finance course.
All the best 😃
Can a current student possibly give some insight on the Teaching methods applied in classes, Boston life + peer activities, exposure to corporate/company networks and anything else helpful for prospective Northeastern MBA or MF students.
Thanks!
Teaching is done mostly through cases and presentations. There is a heavy class participation component in teaching. Also, NEU follows cohort model. You do different companies analysis n stuff. We have executive luncheons, networking events, company visits, company sponsored events...there is a lot of stuff regarding that...our career center is pretty awesome. Any more questions you guys have let me know. Regarding interview questions, go to the Northeastern Fall 11 thread. Good luck to both of you guys.
Thanks Pradzy.
pradzy224 SaysAll the best :)
Abhi. Thanks again for quick details. How would you rate the Finance program ? as compared to Boston College or BU (any maybe even MIT or Harvard :P). What opportunities post-MBA are there for someone who might want to shift south to NY.

Hey Everyone,
I have been admitted to the Northeastern MBA program. Had my interview with Evelyn Tate on Dec 16. It lasted around half n hour. Most of the questions were based on my profile and career aspirations. Since am currently working as a project lead in IT in ICICI Bank most of the focus was on my leadership skills, team management, instances of conflict handling, highlights in my profession etc.
I got my decision on Jan 14 with a scholarship of $60k (largely credited to my work profile). Besides I have already got in touch with a Research Center for helping out as a RA given my profile. Lastly they mentioned in the admit letter about the 100% placement rate for Corporate Residency with a minimum salary of $25k. This facility separates Northeastern from the other univs in US. The tuition rate presently is $1340 per credit and total minimum credits to finsh the MBA is 60 totally to approx $81k. Overall I believe its a good deal and the full-time placement records is 95% which is better than most of the MBA institutes.
Regarding comparison with the other two Boston univs i.e BU and BC, NEU has a slightly lesser starting salary. This is mainly due to the fact that students here have significantly lesser work-ex than the students at BU and BC. One the plus side, the average salary increase is 112% so you on par with the graduates of other univs within a year.
The coursework here is very intensive though. Lots of assignments and teamwork activities. Coupled with the executive luncheons, Career Center programs, clubs activities etc people are always on their toes. Lastly, their is a mandatory International Field Trip for around 6 weeks to one of the countries Brazil/Argentina, Russia, India, China which sounds attractive considering Indians are not supposed to have their Field trip in India!
Summing things up if your have less work-ex and want a safe return on your investments for MBA and get a decent package Northeastern is worth it. Its a good program from youngsters who are looking for a career change like me :o
I have gathered all these info from a couple of second year students there with whom am in touch with. Let me know if you guys join there. Can a form a little group ourselves!!
Till then
Hi Rahul.
Great.Congrats. Thats a huge scholarship. Can you pls share your profile. Also, are schools in Boston such as NE, BU, BC known for giving decent scholarships.
Thanks.

Hi Rahul,
Thanks for taking out time :cheerio:
Please check the personal mail I sent to you 😃
Hi Dinks,Pradzz
I had applied with my GRE score of 2009 since the univs I was applying to accepted GRE and I was yet to take the GMAT.
Profile :-
GRE - 1360 (Translates to around 680 on GMAT scale)
Work Ex- 2 yrs 5 months, Assistant Manager in ICICI Bank, Information Technology Group, Mumbai
Acads- 66% BE IT from University of Pune
Some decent extra-curriculars as a Corporate Social Responsility incharge etc.
I got admits in UC Davis, Boston College(Carrol) and Northeastern. Boston College did not offer me any scholarship which was very discouraging. UC Davis gave me a schol of $7500 per year, but had high tuitions. As far as Boston University goes I have heard that you need very high GMAT range (720 +) to be considered for schols. NU offered me this package which I couldnt refuse. Plus since I am looking for a career change into Finance, Boston as a financial hub along with the additional benefits of corporate residency etc that NU offered sealed the deal.
If you have a good profile and decent extensive work-ex then you could get good deals at the other Boston colleges u mentioned.
Pradzz,
Have replied to your PM.
