I am an NMIMS HR convert, and a proud one at that. However I find that the interest in this particular program is next to nothing,at least on the official thread.....a result of lack of proper information perhaps?I would request the NMIMS seniors thread, particularly jay@pune,to provide the HR converters a background about-
1.What are the qualities that are required for one to have an "interest" in this program?Going through the course outline is fine, but I have experienced that excellent teaching turns even the most mundane subjects into interesting ones. I have no doubt about the faculty. So it all boils down to the individual then. What are the qs that one needs to answer when one wants to go ahead with this program without boredom(considering the fact that one can't opt for a different program as compared to CORE) ?
2.As far as I can understand,it is only the summer placement figures that are available for the first batch.I believe any of the seniors can inform the junta at large about the highest, average and least salary offered vis a vis the core program.A report as such is not really required. We can make do with this information till the report comes out.
3 What are the advantages that an NMIMS HR program offers apart from the brand tag?XLRI HR program is a class apart but what is the standing of this program as compared to say,an SCMHRD?Similarly, what are the significant cons?
A detailed reply will benefit all.I request the seniors to take note of the concerns and answer to the best of their capabilities.
I will keep updating the questionnaire depending on the concerns raised by interested parties.
I Could not find relevant information anywhere else which is why I created this thread.
If a thread already exists,a sincere apology.

congratulations for converting your call.
your first question deals with the most basic question everyone is asked during an interview " why HR "
I am quite sure that everyone would have prepared a very convincing answer for the same, but once you do get in, it is important that you believe the same. The first year curriculum of MBA HR is similar to that of the core program, the objective of which is to gain a functional knowledge of all the aspects of a business. like in any other degree the faculty can only take you so far, the rest is up to you as to how you capitalize on resources available.
You need to enroll for this course only if you are sure you want a career in HR because like you stated there is no turning back.
coming to your second question, I would request everyone to be patient and wait for the placement report as all information will be provided in the same. it will be uploaded very soon.
The advantages of HR at NM. The course has been designed keeping in mind the industry requirements. We have sector specific projects every trimester which is not a part of any subject. the evaluation of the same is done by senior industry experts. By the time we pass out i am sure that we will have a good idea of all the major industries, upcoming HR trends etc. I will be unable to provide a comparison to other colleges like SCMHRD, SIBM, MDI etc as i am unaware of their course structure
On the flip side, the acceptance of the course depends on the performance of the first few batches. Looking at the summer placements i am confident that placements shall be good for the upcoming batches but the sustainability of the same will depend on the success of alumni.
Hope this Helps!

For all its worth it, would not be able to name the companies since the Summer Placement report is not out.
As far as the packages are concerned, the processes for which I had co-ordinated, the packages were the same across all the profiles, be it Marketing, HR, Fin.
It's majorly in case of companies which offer only a particular profile will the variations happen. Also, it is a commonly known fact that across all B-Schools, package for HR is slightly lesser than for eg. Fin, since the variable component dips or is low compared to the other functions.
Hope this helps.
Jay.

Yes, that was the whole idea of separating HR from the Core. So that students inclined towards HR can focus for 2 years on HR.
So yes, one would not be able to specialise in HR if they join Core.
thank you so much jay 😃
what is the average package of core and hr in nmims mumbai??
plz rpli
What do they look for in an HR aspirant candidate? Also, any tips to prepare SOP for HR profile?
