@Sufi0469 all ppl are placed bro, unless youre pathetically bad in studies and getting a CG of 2.3 or 2.2 and i can tell you even ppl with CGs of 2.4 have been placed in decent companies sometimes with a package equivalent to toppers. Salaries vary from anything between 6 - 15.
One more thing keep in mind the financial markets are not doing exactly well since past few years, if you compare figures of core finance and BM/CM they are roughly the same barring a few big companies and banks for which BM/CM are not allowed to sit and that has to do with our college's policies, we cant really do much about them.
Otherwise Core finance and BM/CM do almost similarly good or bad as you wanna put it ;)
@IC-IIMC its not exactly inflation bro, its more about how colleges design their average packages, Salaries usually consist of Fixed component, Variable Component, Bonuses, Other benefits, very often when colleges come out with reports they take into consideration of all these figures.
Whereas in truth an employee might not be paid any variable component, so all of this is very much subjective. Variable components can vary from 20 - 50 percent of salary figures sometimes.

could you please elaborate more on placemenet situation for courses like BM/CM ,median salary offered in these?..i have heard for BM , govt banks visit for jobs of PO, is it true??and how is the course of CM if someone wants to make a career in investment banking?

As a NM student, I am glad someone has taken this initiative, and I find it very ethical and managerial from all possible angles. Trust me, I have almost two years of MBA behind me.
Further ahead, I would not recommend anyone to indulge in such useless rants on this thread and use it for CD/PI prep only. Anymore of this would invite a ban from the mods.
