@NMIMS When placement report of nmims mumbai will be out?

Hi Seniors/fellow Aspirants ,

I hope you all are doing good in your life. I needed some info for making some important decisions in future. I would be highly pleased if somebody could tell me the amount of fees we have to pay to block aur seat after the call arrives. And the time frame the college would take to return the paid fees, if I choose to drop out from the college(after paying the required fees).

Thanks in advance.

Your SOP indicates your intent and resolve towards an MBA. It also determines the route your personal interview goes down. It is your only opportunity (devoid of external interference) to exert some degree of control in the admissions process. A flippant or sub standard SOP in most colls would ensure an outright reject. Please do not labour under the delusion that it 'is of no importance'.

Do refer the attachment in post #2911. In future it would be nice if you would atleast check a few pages in the thread out before posting. Any and all queries that strike you, have been answered here quite exhaustively.

anybody there for pharma mba??

@7pratik6 will a general sop work against us?? I mean an sop which does not really specify my hobbies or areas of strength... I have a score of 238.. but had a bad pi nd hv no work-ex.. nw d last thing i need is a reject on d basis of sop..

@jamesjoseph2770
The entire purpose of a CD/PI is to determine whether the student in question has the wherewithal and more importantly, the inclination to do an MBA. The degree indicates a huge lifestyle and career change and requires a significant commitment. Unfortunately in India, most people equate an MBA with dollar signs. Anyway I digress...

The idea is to give an interview panel as much of an insight into yourself as possible. To sell yourself as a suitable candidate. You have three occasions to do this - The CD, the PI and the SOP. Of these, the one unrushed, zero pressure opportunity is the SOP. How anyone can be intimidated or choose to intentionally bypass this avenue is frankly, beyond me. Your writing skills may not be brilliant, but the need is to put forward YOUR capabilities as an INDIVIDUAL. What sets you apart from the pack, your strengths and highlights. Grammar and language be damned, it is the idea behind your SOP which is most important.
I do not understand what you mean by a 'general' SOP. If you have not been able to express yourself via an SOP, the PI is where the interviewers try to bring out your opinions and ideas in order to assess you. Different panels may use different methods for this. It is thus, very hard to judge how an interview went from the candidate's POV.

Anyway, you have a really good score and perhaps the interviewers did get what they wanted out of you. So you have a chance as good as any, perhaps better. Although if you truly do not have an answer to 'Why MBA?' apart from a google mix and match, I'd suggest a good long look in the mirror.
@7pratik6 Thanks a lot for dat 1 buddy.. I really need to look in the mirror.. Congrats 4 ur sibm pune convert... Hope dat u convert XL also...

I might be wrong but it didn't really look like they had time to read our SOP. Everyone was called in the interview room almost immediately after the preceding person came out. Or is it that they ask us to send it out along with the other docs so that they can rate us based on our SOP before the CD/PI sessions are conducted?

I am really sorry that I overlooked the previous pages. I would surely make a point to look back pages before asking. Still one my question remains unanswered -

"And the time frame the college would take to return the paid fees, if I choose to drop out from the college(after paying the required fees)."

This would help me manage my funds in better way, if I opt out of the college.

I am writing this before the results on purpose else if I don't convert and then if I write this,I would be branded as another product of 'Grapes are sour' story.

I don't understand the selection process of the college specifically the CD/PI process.

Fact # 1 : During CD,a group of 12 candidates were asked to appear for it and the combined time for discussion was given as 15 minutes.

How can the panel judge and give marks to each and every candidate out of the 12 in such a short time?Out of the 15 minutes given for discussion,most of the time is spent when at least 2 candidates are talking simultaneously.Also,in 'conclusion' phase,the 1st one to speak covers most of the points and others simply repeat those.Now a days,everyone is well aware of the behaviour and manners required in CD as all attend coaching classes for that.So,more or less,most of the candidates seem similar.Now don't tell me that the moderators of the CD are able to recognize the right candidate on the basis of such short time.

Fact # 2 : Most of the candidates had interviews which lasted for average 10 minutes.I even heard cases where it lasted for mere 4-5 minutes.

What's the rush I don't understand.Why can't the panel try to know the candidate better by spending more time with him/her? Again you would say that they are experts and are able to judge.But I beg to differ because IAS/IPS interviews won't have lasted for so long based on your 'expert judges' theory.They should try to really know the person by spending more time with him and if you don't have time for that,extend your CD/PI window.Simple.

I bet that after result is announced,we would see many candidates saying that 'I had a great CD/PI but still I am rejected'.Same thing has happened with other colleges as well...even when the the panel spent more time in judging the candidates.But,as far as this college is concerned,we would see more of those.Specially after spending so much for just getting an opportunity to attend the CD/PI.(Yes , this college follows that weird policy of making candidates pay for even attending the CD/PI).Imagine the state of mind of a candidate who after spending Rs.1650*3 for 3 attempts of NMAT+Rs.950 for CD/PI and then took a flight from his hometown to Mumbai and back (Approx Rs.7000) plus room accomodation (Rs.800-1000) and who is willing to pay close to Rs.15 lakhs and finally he gets just 1 minute to talk in CD and 5-8 minutes in interview and based on that he's rejected.If this is happening,there sure is some issue which needs to be corrected.(Also,I am avoiding to go into the details of no refreshments(apart from tea and biscuits) being provided during the entire process even after paying Rs.950.)

P.S : I am not against anyone.Just trying to express what I feel.This is a prestigious college with expert faculty and they must be knowing what they are doing,but consider this as a voice of a common aspirant who decided to express whatever he feels and I am sure many would agree to this too.

@AshuIncognito fees refund process takes around 45-50 days. i think 1000 rs is deducted and u have to withdraw before the session starts.

For me there is a high chance that they didn't read it. I had clearly mentioned my specialization and the kind of work which i am looking forward to in my SOP. But still they did ask me on that. I am hoping that they allocate a few points for the SOP.

Still 6 more days for the final results..

@shashankrai

I just contacted a guy from cre3dilla education loans, he said if you have the required documents then the loan can be processed within 7 days and even less if urgent. So try to get in touch with the banks and get ready with your documents.
