Hi Folks,

Please post the general instructioins given to us by the faculty, just before the start of the process.

E.g. Last year's instruction - Selection criterion

70% - nmat
7.5%- gd
7.5% - pi ,
5% - workex and
10%- acads..

Please post this years criterion while sharing your exp ( atleast the puys sharing the initial day's exp)... This shall resolve some confusion.

Also, Could not understand the pointer 2 in imp info about specialization. Do they ask us write down our choice of specialization before interview?

Brief Snapshot of Discussion: Chengad/machli bazaar..shouting,desk banging it was all present....people were throwing facts around one on one etc....yours truly tried to moderate and chipped in 2-3 decent points


Other Salient Details: Last 5 minutes warning given and instead of summarizing people were still coming up with more points:wow::wow::wow:
I said summarize after a minute and thankfully everyone listened

What will be the overall cutoff to get the final call. Since I just cleared the cut off at 208,:banghead: wanted to know what are my chances to convert it.

You will be given 2 mins to discuss to scribble down your points and a total of 18 mins to discuss. My GD went on well. Everyone participated.I even heard that GD of one group was scrapped due to fish market.

PI:It was GREAT!!
Panel Members Intro:3 people. Two were old and one was somewhere in early 30'2
Questions:

1-Tell me something about yourself?
2- Why MBA after 4 yrs?
3-A life changing experience.
4-For me it was mostly related to Work Ex.

All in all a very chilled out process.just keep your cool and i think you will come out with a smile :-)

MISC.
Some IMPORTANT INFO:
1- Fees has been increased to 5.16 lacs from this year
2- You can change your specialization before your GD/PI starts.A form will be given to you and you can change your preferences.

Hmm afaik you can choose not to attend thats not an issue
i doubt panel knows where you are applying

Thanks puys for posting your experiences!
A major load has been taken off my head - I had mistakenly given Capital Markets as my 1st preference when my aptitude and interest in Finance is zilch. I am glad I can now get back to good old Core and HR. 😃

MBA CORE PROCESS

GD: NMIMS has done away with direct GD topics. A situation is given on a paper and we have to analyze it.
Topic:Pro's and Cons of FDI. A 6 line para. First 3 lines stated pros of FDI, next 3 cons..
Number of Ppl present 12 (dont remember)
Time: 20 mins
Brief Snapshot of Discussion: It was a nice GD. Nice decorum and co-ordination. 2 people were silent. Started. Good oppurtunity to start and would advise all to try starting as it is difficult to discuss the same lines for 20 mins.
My guess is that topics would be based on current affairs. So please look into section 377, UP elections, 2g licences cancelled, NCTC, etc.....

Other Salient Details: NO warning about the time given at any stage and people kept discussing the topic till finally 1 panelist said OK.. u people can leave now.. LOLZ.. 😁 :D

2-3 mins grilling on specialisation. Satisfied look on EM's face.

All this while LP was reading my SOP>

LP : So tell me about magarpatta.
Me: Fumbling fumbling told something.

LP : Tell me about construction growth in pune.
Me: Not aware.

OM : Tell me your family background.
Me: Told.

OM : Tell me about Nashik. (My hometown)
Me : expectd question. told. :D

EM : (very sharp he was) Some more grilling on entrepreneurship.
Me: (OMG!!) made some story. ;)

OM : ok u can go.

Good panel esp the EM.. Nice PI.

PS : 1) You can change, add, remove preferences as you want. (even apply for new campuses)
2) same weightage 70+7.5+7.5+10+5 for mba core.
3) HR weightage : 70 nmat + 10 (GD + written test) + 12.5 (PI) + 7.5 (Acads + Workex)

GAVE IT WITH ZERO SERIOUSNESS :D

Firstly, we were made to sit in a class. A case was given about Ashwini who shows disinterest in all works. His boss likes him for his unintrusive and silent behavior. He tries to motivate him by giving pep talks. But he behaves the same way once out of the office of the boss. What would you do to help him..

a 8 page sheet was given. But instructions were clear. Short. (i wrote 2 pages) Only 3 paras. 10 mins given. Please write this seriously as the same is present with the PI panelists during PI.

GD:
Intersting GD. First time for me. A case given about you being a manager for a travel agency. 6 destinations like desert festival in rajasthan, family road trip to ladakh, goa, location of your choice, etc were gievn. We have to convince about our boss about the best places and thus, have to rate these destinations individually.

NOTE : there is a table with 3 columns on the case page given. 1 st lists the destination. 2nd : Individual rating. 3rd : Group rating.

Firstly, we were told to rate these destinations as per our preferences with the top 2 destinations being our main priority. Then once done, discuss the rankings with your group and as a group come to consensus about the rankings of all the destinations.

Brief Snapshot of Discussion: FISH MARKETTTTTTTTTTT!!! In my as well as all the groups present. 20 mins of continuous shouting. Confusing how and on what basis the panelists graded us as evryone kept shouting promoting their preferences. I also kept shouting on top of my voice. Have never done in any GD till date. :)

Other Salient Details: warning given 5 mins b4. in the end we have to write in the 3rd column the rankings for each destination which the group has decided.

Panel Members Intro:
SM : Sweet Madam.
GOM : Good old man.

Questions:

SM offered me some water. Asked if i had eaten anything. i drank water from her bottle and she seemed to be very happy about it. She was beaming when i did that.

SM : so r u really interested in HR or itz just a back up plan.
Me : Interested. gave gyan y..

Some questions related to my answer. SM was impressed.

SM : Tell me evrything you know about HR.
Me : (BOUNCER). Told something.

OM : Family background.
Me : told.

OM : so from where has ur brother done his mba.
Me: IIM-A.

SM : ohh.. so u must be under a lot of presure to do mba this year.
Me: Told about family expectations present but no pressure and some more gyan.

Very good smile SM gave.
Some questions about CAT and other xams. how well did i fare in them.

SM : what if you done get anywhere this year.
me : usual gyan. next yr more efforts and blah blah.

SM : which books do u read?
me : sidney sheldon.

Asked a bit about sidney sheldon. she wanted to kno whther i know that he's a male.

SM : what do u know about HR practices in india.
Me : no idea.

SM : have you atleast seen the HR course curriculum.
me : smilied and said no.

OM : so what excites you the most in your job.
any emergencies you have handled.

u will be provided with a paper..having a situation written on it..you have to just simply analyse the situation. You have sufficient space in the paper to write down ur points.

Thanks blitz! If you could recall and just mention a few points on the situation given to you today....it would really give an idea what to expect in the case study! Know this is stretching a bit...but really it would be very helpful!
