Hi,
You cannot register if you dont have a credit card, try to use some of your friend's or relative's card as you can only pay through credit card...

I think the price of TI BA II plus is fine. I don't know the price of the professional one. However, some difference of 100-200 will be there in different parts of Delhi.
In the wake of the fact that the calculator is available for 2150 in Banglore (authorised dealer of Texas Instruments), I think the price should be reasonable.

I am not sure about 'TI BA II plus' but 'TI BA II plus professional' is costing me 3150 Rs from Mumbai's shop. I think it includes courier charges too. For Pune. From the previous discussion this seems to pretty good price. I am getting it soon.

Alpesh, if you still have any doubt regarding the price, I think you can call the authorised dealers of Texas in India (Banglore) and confirm whether you are getting a fair deal as their price would be the least.

I had called him up yesterday. His price is 3450 + Courier charges. I quoted only one price as that was the least I had heard.
I am not confused. I posted so that others will know where to get cheaper calculator.

hey CTD
i am pursuing CFA from AIMR USA . You can take up the course from India. Its the world's most recognised course in finance leading to CFA charter. Level 1 exams are conducted in december and June.
The course is tough by any standards. For the first two levels you are tesetd on the basis of multiple choice question. The question paper is very tricky. For more details you could check out www.cfainstitute.org If you have cleared this course you don need to to do an MBA in finance. As its the mother of all fin courses. Later maybe after 5 years of good industry work ex you cud consider the options of an MBA in finance but i don think you would really need it.
A qualified CFA can expect anywhere between $100000-$140000 p.a in USA. (Mind you thats the starting salary).
The ROI is pretty high. Sitting in India you could finish the course for about 2 Lacs considering assumptions that you clear the exams at the first shot. Once you have cleared level 2 exams you could think of going to the states and take a job which would pay you between 50000-75000$ p.a
Many people with IT background are taking the course up in India because its fairly challenging. I am not discounting the fact that life's gonna be tough for u being an engg but nothing's impossible .
Hope i have managed to get a clearer picture.
all the best
btw : I am a CA and currently doung MBA from symbi, pune
Take care
Hi all,

> Can a person of engineering background crack an exam like CFA.
> One last thing are there any chances of getting an entry in Finance Industry after getting L1 clear, as my carreer and life has stuck badly in my present IT Job.
Thanks much for all your time and help in advance. Egerly waiting for your responces.

I would give very short 1 line answers to your questions. I would advise you to go through this thread and do some research on the CFA Charter to understand its real value.
1) Yes a CFA Charter will help you get a job in Finance.
2) Yes an engineering graduate can clear the CFA Exams.
3) You may get a job in Investment Research in various KPOs or even in an Investment Bank. It would depend upon your educational background as well.
is anyone registering for the free mock cfa test in bombay..i saw some posters in my college..i think they are offering a full test series for the december candidates..here is the registration link http://education.aisapaisa.com/
i dnt think they will have both morning and afernoon session though! need to call up and enquire

Hi,
I am planning for CFA Level-1 in June'09. But I want to register for the exam after some hands-on. I got some Schweser material from Internet, but I am interested in official curriculum.
Please let me know what type of material CFA institutes send us , are they CFA institute books available on amazon.com or they are exclusively for CFA candidates.
One CFA institute series book I found on amazon (Quantitive Investment analysis by Richard A Defusco etc), also these books are recommended by CFA institute and mentioned in reference books.
People who received official curriculum, please clarify me ...
-- Neeraj
If anyone from NCR region (Delhi/Noida) having CFA Level-1 June'09 official curriculum, please let me know. I want to get xerox copy. I am willing to pay for the same.
Please send me contact details through PM, I will approach you.
Thanks,
Neeraj
