Need some Opinions on CFA

This post is more in response to a post by 'esahihoonmain' who I feel has wrongly gone on to make some 'absolute' statements like "either you should go for MBA or for CFA" and "CFA should be done along with a job but not along with an full time MBA course".
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Taking CFA exams along with an MBA is a very feasible option and many people do it. To quote some facts, 10% of my batchmates took Level 1 last June (& thus taking Level 2 now) and 15% of the junior batch (07-09) is appearing for the Level 1 this June.
CFA course material becomes quite understandable while you're going through your MBA subjects. Best part is that you can utilize your CFA material reading to excel in the finance related subjects and vice-versa. Talk of synergies!

Ideal would be to take the Level 1 in December, 2008 or June 2009. And then Level 2 in June 2009 or June 2010. Your final placements will happen in early 2010. If you're able to manage Level 1 in December, 2008 and then Level 2 in June 2009, then you would have a good advantage during your plcmnt. season.
But then clearing the exams is the first priority, so if you feel that for
Level 1: Dec, 2008 is too early you can go for June, 2009.

Thanks
SHEKHAR

CFA US is more recognized worldwide; has a great brand value and quite checks your concepts & understanding than the need to mug up theories..

I bought 2008 yr books of cfa from ber sarai in delhi for 1700 (i might have paid more than req but did not have any idea, though i did bargain). I am planning to appear for level 1 in Dec 2008, yet to register. Anyone else preparing for dec please reply, we can plan together about the centre to choose et al.

1 small doubt...
do we get the books also compulsorily when we register?
or can we just register for the test & buy the books separately...

Hi..i would also like to know which airlines provide the cheapest fare to Bangkok and singapore..

Hi Dude..Can you give a little bit more info on Bangkok as a test center. What is the exact place (test center) and where can you stay in Bangkok? The cost you mentioned 10-12K is on a shared basis or you can stay alone for the same amount.

Also is it easy to get the test center?

You should get at any good stationary shop. If you are living in south delh ithen i can tell you else it will be futile for you to travel all teh way to South delhi only for a calci. When did you register for the exam and what are you doing currently. I am planning to appear in Dec 2008. Anyone else for Dec 2008 CFA US.

Hi all

having a serious issue of memory loss ..
appearing for CFA L1 08 ... prepping since jan ... . done reading through course once (ethics not included)
read text .. do questions at the end of chap .... the wheels of the bus go round and round (bucket list quote in different context)

but now when look back at em (questions)... wonder how I could have answered them
things that looked so obvious then .. now look alien

pls help with some tips n tricks .. or just how do guys do it stuff
