want to appear for june 2008...can nybdy tell me the procedure....heard sum prob is goin on in india...plz clarify
Hold on right there!
Currently, there is a Delhi High court stay on administering the CFA exam in India..Indian citizens who had already applied for the December exam can appear for the exam...but not in India..People are flying to Nepal and SriLanka for the same...
Correct me if the situation has changed...
All this means that Indian candidates will not even be allowed to apply for the June exam...unless of course the legal system of our country eventually dismisses ICFAI Tripura's claims and permits CFA (USA) to legitimately and smoothly conduct exams in India...
Nope not changed at all.. And going by the record of our fast moving legal system

Not going to change soon either.. Will be going to Dhaka for the exam.. They are allowing that.. Actually my father is going to be based there for 1 year so..
Yup small prob.. They are not letting us give the exam in India.. Other than that its all good..
You have to move out of the country to our neighbors and give the exam there..
ICFAI wants us all to the CFA from their institute and to that effect they have got Guwahati High Court to issue an injunction against the CFA from US..
I mailed them and they got back saying that as soon as I left India I can register with them..

@Gaurava:
1) Indian citizens cannot even register for June 2008 exam as of now.
2) Those Indians taking the December exam have registered before the June 2007 (i.e. before this fiasco started).
And....as said by you that as soon as you move out of India, you can "register" corroborates this. Kindly confirm the above two statements.
cheers!!

I guess Shekhar, you're saying what I had heard last authentic..
I think "move out of India" means for employment/living/immigration in which case one will need more than just a tourist visa/equivalent..
I guess I will mail them and find out for sure myself..

Have mailed them regarding the points raised by you.. True I never asked them what kind of VISA would they accept but I think a 1 year multiple entry VISA should be adequate.. Will post the info as and when I receive it.. Let them shed light on the matter as they are the final judges of eligibility..

Hopefully will be eligible.. God damm these ICFAI people@Seizonsha; Any info would be helpful.. Don't really wanna shell out 40k only to be told later to buzz of.. :)

Ankit go through the Schweser site according to them the CFA crowd has reworked quite a bit of the curriculum.. CFA Exam Review, Prep, Study Program, Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA Institute, Curriculum :: Schweser, Your Partner in Financial Education
Hopefully the old notes would still be helpful.. Had contacted the Laxmi Copy Center.. He told me the 2008 notes would be available from this week end..

Dear you have taken right decision if you have decided to build your career in investment management since CFA is unlike CA, CS or ICWAI or MBA in finance, I t focusese in key area like security valuation, mutual fund, portfolio analysis, derivatives etc, And dont be scared with recenr humours of ICFAI it is best known in indian investment communtiy, and professionals.
enjoy
Hi Guys
Nice forum to discuss things.
This is my first post here. A little nervous 😃 😃 :)
I stay in Gurgaon (Delhi) and want to take the CFA exam. Now I have some queries:
1) The website (and CFA guys on phone) says that Indians living abroad may take the test. Now do I need a different country VISA or can I just travel for a day and take the exam in the other country. Can I register for the test now ?
2) I have 2007 Schweser Notes. But considering the 20% or so change in curriculum, I think I'll have to go for 2008 Schweser notes. Are they available online in PDFs the way 2007 notes were ? Also, which websites have other material on CFA.

the first one is a million dollar question.. Just mail them and find out to be sure.. I think apart from Nepal you would need a VISA even for 1 day no??

And to the second question.. Its better if you get the 2008 notes.. Why risk it when you are already investing so much.. Talk to the Laxmi Copy Place guy.. His address and phone number is there in the pages before.. He has the set available from Saturday I think..

Indian CFA and Inernatrional CFA are both very different and are conducted by different bodies in India it is conducted by ICFAI and now it is called MD FINANCE International CFA is conducted by AIMR and there is no such rule that you do Indian CFA first.

there is no such copulsion that u need to give indian CFA first and i would say u dnt need to give dat crap ICFAI CFA which does not have any credibility ...its better if u read this thraed from starting..all ur queries will be cleared.

Hi...any june-08 L-1 aspirant frm delhi...
Hey Ppl,
I tried to register for the June 2008 CFA AIMR. But the registration process was only allowing me to select CIPM program and not the CFA.
Has anybody registered for CFA June 2008 in India?
