hey guys i m preparing for CAT/CET this year and i am aiming to get into the top B-school....after this i want to pursue CFA....but i m confused between indian & USA...which one should i go for? yesterday one of my friend told me that the economy of USA is unstable so the CFA(USA) wont have much value in future and i should pursue indian CFA (FYI: i will mostly work in India only...i dont want to go abroad)....so can any1 tell me which degree will enhance my career after MBA (finance)....and how much salary can i expect with MBA+CFA(USA) & MBA+CFA(INDIA)

CFA is a very respected and equally tough qualification to gather , so the "scope" question is redundant so to speak.....only thing needed is aptitude for Finance and converting it to the practicalities of the Fin World, I have seen people with n number of certifications not very competent and many a people with solid practical experience who do not have a battery of certifications doing so very well because they love what they do .........I hope u get the drift of what I am purporting

Hi friends, i have started PGDM this year. i am B.E. in chemical and a fresher. i thought of giving CFA L1 this december. but, with such a hectic life at MDI, i don't think i will be able to cope with extra study of CFA. so now i am planning to go for next june. i know it will not help me in final placements, but it will help my profile in the long-run. have i taken the right decision???

My name is Shashank Chaturvedi. I am 23 years old engineer, presently workingin Quest Group of Companies on the designation of Deputy Manager. This company works on Rural Development and Solar Power Plants. I was graduated in May earlier this year. My branch was Electronics and Communication Engineering. Though I had bad academic records (75.2% in Xth, 70.2% in XIIth and 59.25% in B Tech) somehow I managed to get a job in this company. But still as its quite clear I have yet not achieved anything in my life, I am not happy at all. 
I wanted to pursue MBA in finance related field from USA but my family is not in condition to beer any more expenses related to my future studies. Few days back, I came across CFA; and now I think this can be a good option for me over MBA (All I need to do is put in some effort and clear three levels of this esteemed examination).
Please suggest that being from a technical background, is it worth putting in effort in such a tough examination. Will I be able to clear it? If i study properly! I am aiming for June 2012 Level 1! Should I go for coaching? (Which is the best 1 in New Delhi) From where should I look for the preparation material? & What should be the study plan (As I am a Professional)
Are there any job opportunities after clearing Level I or II itself? What are the average salaries in India and USA?

I am yet to start my preparation for CFA . I am planning to write it in June 2012
Background : B.E ( Electronics ). No idea regarding the finance. Working in Software industry.
I know I have got quite a fair amount of time to prepare and give it a best shot in June 2012
So can anyone guide me how can i kick off my preparation -
Is it better to study from Schweser notes ? or the official material ?
Is it better to register for the examination and then start the preparation ( I know its a silly question but just asking it ..since i have no experience regarding the taste of this examination and its way of preparation)
Please can someone also add some preparation tips ?

I am currently pursuing Executive MBA(PGPEX) from IIMC.
I am 5 yr experienced in software Industry (Not in Finance Domain).
I am pursuing MBA in Finance but I am not interested in Investment banking,considering the hectic life of investment banker.
But I want to move to other finance jobs.
I cleared CFA Level I in June 2011 as my first step towards finance career.
Now I am thinking whether to write Level II or not.
What kind of finance jobs would be available for me with this qualification (applying off campus apart from campus placements) in Indian industry?
Would it help me in off campus placements to write level II by next yr(till then our placements would be over,so in off campus jobs)?
