Need some Opinions on CFA

Hello, I have done my B.com and worked in Thomson Reuters for 2 years. I want to do CFA. I am not that good in maths, english and finance. can you please tell me what are the skills I need to build in me to do CFA? and how to build those skills? It would be very kind of you if you could answer to me

Puys please solve my query,

I am B.Tech(Hons) Graduate in Civil-Construction pursuing a PGP in Infrastructure Finance,Development & Management and DL-PGDM in Finance from IMT,Ghaziabad.

I would like to ask whether doing CFA would boost my knowledge or its just yet another tool for boosting one's CV ?

CFA L1 is good for knowledge purpose but not that great to boost your CV.. The material is quite similar to what you would study in first year of ur MBA.

hey
i would like to have some info regarding cfa programs.

i have went through the site. do i have to sign up for each level seperately? like sign up for level 1 now, and after finishing the exam and clearing it, sign up for level 2?

secondly, what is the system to get course material? i sign up for the exam first, and then order material? or is everything done in one go?

thanks in advance for your replies

yes, you have to sign up separately for each level. Also, they send the material once you pay the fee for that particular level.

You need to have a good understanding of concepts.. If you devote sufficient time, then u can surely crack the exam.

So doing CFA completely would help rather than only L1 ?

Hi!

I am a B Tech in Electrical Engineering, working in a power sector PSU since last two years. I'd like to know whether doing CFA will help me in switching my career line from power sector to finance or would it be helpful for someone who is already in finance sector or plans to do an MBA in finance later.

Thanks

HI,
i am a final yr B.E(mechanical engg) student. I am appearing for cfa level 1 in dec 2011 but i read on their site that you cant register for level 2 unless u complete and receive your bachelor's degree. i'll finish my degree in may-june 2012 but would need to register for exam in march or so.
Would i have to wait another year for appearing in level 2??

This is important coz if i cnt register for level 2 ,i should give my level 1 more time accordingly.

1) Yes
2) Well, there's a huge scope....you can work as an equity analyst, finance associate etc in various organizations. Depends.
3) Nopes, but MBA can widen the scope.
4) You will have to figure that on your own....what kind of profiles your company and other IT companies are looking for......or you can even work in banks and other financial services firms.

Cheers:)
