hey akshay dont worry about job prospects. they are plenty. CFA is the gold standard in investment profession. I am in the same boat as you. I will be graduating with a BBM in few months. I am giving Level 1 in june

just had a weird question. Is the CFA US recognised as equivalent to Master's for the purpose of an FPM from the IIM's. It is recognized as equivalent to Master's for universities abroad, i.e UK and US.
Checked the web, but could not find a satisfactory answer to this. Any help would be great

My suggestion is do CFA while doing MBA, it turns out to be much better that way

Hi I am working in infosys with 2 yrs of experience in IT industry. I have planned to take CFA L1 in dec 2011. I started my preparation a week before. But still now I could complete only 2 chapters and that too without handson preparation in a chapter.
1. I wanna know is this preparation phase is normal/ do i need to improve. Im spending 2-4 a day. (sat & sun - 7-8 hrs)
2. Am planning to write BAnk PO. Will that carrier make any added value along with this CFA for my finance carrier?
3. Anyone from chennai planned for CFAL1 dec 2011. If possible we can discuss the issues/doubts. Group study will result good flavour for exam preparation.

Based on my talks with industry veterans and other people who have written CFA, the CFA curriculum requires not only dedicated hours but smart work. Guidance is very important as it is not only about clearing exams but the fact that how do you apply those concepts to the real world. I would say you are going fine as you still have plenty of time. You can also look for some assistance through coaching classes as you are making a transition from IT to Finance and CFA in itself is equivalent to a masters degree....A CFA could really open the doors for finance jobs for an individual...... I'm working as a chief executive of a startup company and my job invloves financial statement analysis and technology aspects of clean energy business.we have done few projects but now i m not totally content working with the organization because i believe they haven't used my efforts or that they couldn't make proper use of my capability.Now i plan to change my career into core finance and CFA seemed to be worth the challenge.
I m planning to quit this job and find a finance job with any pay package.

i am a fourth year BE computer science student at BIT Mesra. i wish to prepare for cfa level 1, june 2011. Can anyone tell me what is the exact study material that i have to follow since i have no background of finance. also can anybody help me know if i can get this material for a cheaper price. my brother had appeared for cfa 3-4 years back and he had actually got the whole material's photocopied version from somebody in mumbai jus for 4000 bucks. can somebody gimme such a contact.

I do not know about institutes in Hyderabad but I am from Bangalore and yesterday attended a free online demo for the intensive cfa course offered by RPV Learning - Transforming Words to Knowledge. The tricks and fundamentals covered by the faculty were impressive. Has anyone heard of them? They seem to have another demo on sunday. Planning to enroll for the intensive course for June 2011 exams.
