Need some Opinions on CFA

iimmaterial Says
thanks. .i have one doubt in mind.if a person completes all 3levels and dioes not get that work ex. then in that case will he not be cfa qualified. will he not get cfa degree. will his degree ahs no value. what is all about this charter that everyone talks about. i swithout charter doing this course has no value.please enlighten me.thanks

guys please reply

If you don't have work experience and still clear all three levels, you are regarded as CFA qualified. Its just that you won't be able to write CFA initials with your name until you are a charterholder and to become that you need 4 years of work experience. Hope I was able to help iimaterial.

so that means i wont be having cfa degree such as we have mba degrees.

hey can you guide me that how is the result are we given that is whether we are told that we have cleared it or not or there is a marks aspect to it..

dont worry about work experience...the companies will not check the certificate or charter...they will just check ur level 3 marksheet , whether u are cleared or not...!

See iimmaterial the thing is even if you clear all the three levels, u have
a value but you need to get atleast 4 years of Relevant Experience to
earn your charter, Charter signifies that he/she has fulfilled every requirement and standards laid down by CFA Institute hence for obvious
reasons have more value than a CFA Level 3 candidate or CFA Level 3 cleared candidate. In b/w donot confuse Charter with a degree(yes CFA
Institute themselves say it is a graduate level program, excpt in U.K
where Level 3 is considered as a Master level Course),it should be taken
in the light of a Professional Qualification.

Planning to do MBA + CFA simultaneously ... dis year ...

Is this possible , or I am just fooling myself around ??

hi friends.. I couldnt manage a good B school this year so now am continuing work with an IT MNC.
(its only been 5 months). So now i have to wait for a year to do MBA..So now am thinking of registering for CFA course ..so that i can learn finance and can have an edge in mba...but ive heard that cfa is good only after mba or ca or cs and its a polishing/value adding course..so will it still add value to me if i do it now..
shall i go for the cfa course..??
please please guide me..

hello everyone
i have an important query about cfa
i am hitesh....final year student of hotel management..
i would be probably joining a 2 tier college this year (ifmr) as i have no intention of giving another shot at cat...so i am planning to do cfa along with my pgdm...now reading this thread i got an idea that completing cfa wont assure you a job...it would just be an advantage in your cv...(fine enough)
if you want to join investment banking...
now comes the queries
1.i dont know anything about investment...or markets...so would it be a problem for me to clear cfa...
2. from where can i get the material to study for cfa ....from where can i get the books or is the material there online...or we would get the books after registering for the exam..(would those be enough)
3. is there any other way to pay the fees the credit card...i mean by cash at any center in india..??
i would be glad if you would be bale to add anymore information about this cfa with mba.
please reply asap..
thanks in advance..

I would suggest you do a MBA and take up CFA exam side by side. This way you have "mba" degree plus cfa rather than a 1 year spec. You will shift to a higher level after this degree.

I have seen many friends of mine, struggling with CFA because they have an engg background and not a fin/commerce background. If you have done some prior course in finance( know at least about fin statments etc) i think you can get started. And if you donot know, then take your CFA from the second year of your course. As you would have a good understanding about finance by the end of year 1.

the books that you get after registering for the exam ( ONLY BY CREDIT CARD) , will be very exhaustive and will take quite some time to finish .
So ppl buy schweser notes/elanguides etc...they give only what is required for the exam in a easy way to understand too. The pirated copies are available for a petty price in the market.

2. Yes they are a condensed version of the original books by CFA institute...i know about a laxmi xerox, mumbai which sells the pirated :lookround: version for about 1000 bucks.

I am BTech final yr student..if I do CFA After BTech widout doing MBA will it add value to my resume?? And Place where i can get pirated copy of CFA books in Kolkata??
