Dear Frnds

I have been going thru various CFA related posts for last few days. Though it is informative, I need further clarifications on the following points

Please provide information/guidance in the following matters :

- For L1 what is the total material required to be studied say whether cfa official material plus schweser notes is sufficient whether stella notes is also required. Total pages & books for each of these study materials. What r question banks and frm where to get previous papers. any other relevant material. In short, please provide the complete list of study material for L1

-Thru some post I understand that material provided by cfa institute covers study material for all the three levels If so, how much is relevant for Level 1

-whether cfa registration and examination cost cover
the cost for official study material or we have to shell out extra bucks for same.

-minimum time period required to pass all the three levels if one starts frm June 2010 L1 Besides how much study time is required to clear L1 (though site mentions 250 hrs, I request for ur experience)

Please clarify If some one clears L1 in june then he can take L2 only next year In June at the earliest

I will really appreciate ur reply as it will help me decide
whether to go for CFA or not

Please also share ur opinion/insights on pts I may have missed due to my limited knowledge

Thanks and Regards

@ misty dreamer....will PM you the details...bt Level 1 requires more of self study and going through some very specific notes...Schweser notes would be sufficient

Hello All. I have completed my graduation in 2007 and had since gone on to pursue my CFA from ICFAI owing to my intrest in Finance , I wanted to gain familiarity with the Indian Financial sector before I proceeded with the global CFA (if at all). Due to lot of personal and financial issues too I was unable to join a regulation MBA at the time.

Now , I want to give the CFA level 1 in Dec. 2010 after completing my ICFAI CFA in Oct. , my question is that will me holding a Indian CFA create problems in enrolling for American CFA and also is it necessary to have work experiance as an analyst in order to join American CFA.

Dear the ans 2 both of ur question is no, no problem in joining, no exp 4 joining as well. However 2 get a charter (i.e, after u clear all d 3 levels) u would need 4 years releant exp.
But i have a question 4 u........did ur ICFAI CFA helped u in any way ??? specially in job market. Does d indian corporate even recognises it, leave aside the mnc's. Plez share ur views.

hi everyone i have some questions reg CFA

1 - I'm really bad at Maths so i want to know from those have already appeared for CFA exams the level of difficulty of maths and quantitative subjects in it, i mean is it manageable or do you have to be good in maths like in CA to clear CFA.(Maths is my main fear)

2 - is a delhi university graduate degree equivalent to us bachelors degree required to sit for the CFA?

3 - does the institute gives the study material for free, if not then at what price?

4 - are there any coaching institutes in delhi and what do they charge?

Hi all..
Im new to this site! Im currently doing MBA and am in 1st yr. I did BBA with fin specialisation and looking forward to do same in MBA. I have heard a lot about CFA and CFP..and now im confused between the two. The college im doing MBA from is surely not a top notch and so to have extra qualification im planning to do one of these courses. I have interest in finance and mainly equities. It would be great if you people help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Take care.:)

Thanks for answering , and to your ques. about ICFAI CFA , they have a placement cell and it's decently recognized by Industry in India but has very limited value as a standalong degree , it should be backed by MBA or CFA (american).

Morever , I took it up because I wanted more familiarity with Indian financial scene before moving to understand the American system.

Assess yourself.
You could browse the CAFINSTITUTE's site, get hold of the syllabus even look at sample Qs too.

The fee-structure is on the page titled "CFA Exam Fee Schedule" on the CFAINSTITUTE's website.

For Level 1, the fee is USD 1110 (400 + 710) for a new registrant, if paid by 17 February 2010.

Do explore the site to know more.

hi guys,
i'm a 3rd year eng. student and currently preparing for CAT 2010-2011.As i started my preparation 2-3 months back i also started gathering information about GMAT and b-schools in india and abroad.all i've learnt so far is that 2-3 years experience is necessary to get into a good college be it india or outside.i've good academic scores (cgpa >8.5)so i hope atleast i'll get some job or other...
lets jump to my query...in june 2010 i'll be entering my last year on eng. and hence i'll be applicable for CFA programs.i'm deeply interested in finance specially various investment options and portfolio management.I'm planning to pursue a CFA course from some good college, may be some foreign institute which would not only help me in my MBA but will bolster my CV for campus recruitment.Plz suggest me some good institutes in and outside india.secondly,as i mentioned i'm preparing for CAT i would like to know how much time to i have to devote for a CFA program...reading previous post i learnt tht thr r some 'levels' in ths program..plz inform abt tht...

shall be really thankfull
