When you register for the L1 exam you have to provide the center right... But the list doesnt show any Indian Centers... though last yr Mumbai was a center..
Can someone throw some light on choosing the center??

Mumbai can receive the green light when CFA Inst files petition in the court asking the authorities to allow the conduct of exam for greater good of student community...during last couple of occassions that has ben the norm
u should go ahead with nearby centres as of now like Kathmandu/colombo/dubai/bangkok/singapore
as n when the case comes up again for hearing the High court bench would take decision on CFA Inst request
If they do allow then u would receive a mail from CFA Inst informing u about the same n giving u ample time to change ur desired centre in case u wish to
CFA Institute and SEBI Agree to Sponsor Regulator Professionals Taking CFA Program Groundbreaking agreement in Asia-Pacific region
CFA Institute and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) announce a pioneering agreement that will encourage SEBI employees to register for the Level I exam of the CFA Program, which is considered to be the investment professions most rigorous credentialing program. This pilot program was signed by CFA Institute president and CEO, John Rogers, CFA, and SEBI chairman, C.B. Bhave, and is the first in the Asia-Pacific region.
CFA Institute and SEBI will support eligible SEBI staff members to enroll in the CFA Program and register for the June 2010 Level I exam at no cost. There were more than 200,000 CFA exam registrations worldwide during FY2009, including more than 14,000 from India.
To earn the CFA charter, candidates must sequentially pass three six-hour exams (Level I, II and III), have at least four years of work experience in the investment profession, and must commit to abide by the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct, a commitment they must reaffirm each year to maintain the charter. Surveys of CFA candidates indicate that they spend 750 to 900 hours preparing for the three exam levels. On average, successful candidates take four years to complete the self-study program and exams to earn the CFA charter.
While the top Gov Officials recognise CFA's worth ..its a pity that petty court cases has bogged it down from conducting its program in desired fashion

you can never say brother..during June 2008 exams also Mumbai was not a centre initially..but around 10-15 days before the exam a mail came from CFA Institute saying that exams will be conducted in Mumbai so people who wish to change the centre to Mumbai can do so..I did it myself.. hopefully something like this happens this time also.. 😃
I have a minor querry.... I was just checking out the CFA INST home site n found out that the topics for all the 3 levels are same... Can any1 tell me whether the study material is d same too ? If not, then how significantly the material changes ? and whether d difference between the 3 levels is just abt format of d questions or its d difficulty too ?
Hey all that's a good question. Although the details in which every topic is covered is very different in all three levels. In fact the subtopics in every topic are completely different.
Level 1 is just an introduction to finance and the tools used by professionals in this field.
Level 2 is more technical in nature, and goes deep into accounting, quants, valuation and derivatives.
Level 3 then brings all the concepts taught together, and tries to bring out, how a portfolio manager would use all these concepts. So level 3 is completely abt intricacies involved in portfolio management. right from evaluating a clients risk taking ability, behavioral finance, protfolio monitoring and rebalancing, hedging, risk management. It also goes deep into GIPS and asset management standards that a CFA candidate/member needs to follow.
i am not a first hand candidate satisfying this condition but i hv heard that people with CFA do get good summer placements which eventually also lead to good final placements
