i am a mba finance graduate from bangalore. i have 2 years of work experience. one year into investment banking operations and then one year into insurance marketing.. now m tired of marketing.
m planning to change my career.. and planning to do either cfa/aimr or sap fico... guys please help me out as m very confused which one to take..
i have interest into cfa/aimr as i have interest into research work.. but sap fico i thought because it will take lesser time to complete.... i dont want to have any question in my mind so asking you guys.. i have been following this thread from 2007.... i have details about cfa as i have done couple of research work on it..... guys please help me out...

Hi, I think Schweser material is better considering the fact that it is more easy to comprehend and read than the CFA books. I have got schweser L2 material and believe me its awesome. Also, if you can get your hands on Schweser's video tutorials, do buy them. Nothing like them either. For any subject, if you dont understand any particular concept in Schweser, then read it in CFA material. if you read entirely from CFA material, you end up spending a lot of time, though I must say if you have that luxury (time), you should. P.S.: hardcore Schweser Fan.

You cleared L1 and are preparing for L2, I take it?
I have just taken L1 and done well. In anticipation of good things to come I bought schweser books for L2. Any suggestions as to how I should be looking at things. The problem is that I haven't yet taken things seriously or in other words don't feel motivated enough to study, notwithstanding my L1 performance.
What is the bare minimum I should do before Jan 27 arrives so that I can take the momentum forward and don't have too many problems in finishing off the course by April end?

Getting a job does not depend on having a level 2 qualification alone. It depends very much on the profile of the person. Can you specify roughly what your friend's profile was like. That would bring clarity

As per my knowledge, none of the institutes offers classroom coaching for Level 3. If I were you I'd first use schweser videos before opting for the next best option- Ace3levels.
PS- It baffles me like anything as to why there isn't one institute offering training for L3. My best guess would be that CFA doesn't require any coaching but only dedicated self study and by the time people get to Level 3 they realize this fact No demand, no supply.:drinking:

No, I hope to take level 2 in June, i.e have taken my L1 exam But yes, after reading your post I browsed every coaching provider's website to see if any of them offered training for L3, not that I didn't have an idea before

I have decided to give CFA L1 exams in June 2010. I have already appeared for CA Inter and most probably i will clear both groups.
Apart form this I have no idea about finance. Please give in your suggestions on how to start....
Also pls tell me whether the test centre will be Mumbai or we will have to travel to some other country ? (coz in dat case passports will have to be arranged asap )
