Hey tiya


First of all, congratulations for your call. Its a big achievement and i hope you know it too.
So you seem to be a padhaaku type gal, eh?!! Usually MSc and Economics fit well only with people who dont mind putting in 10-12 hours of studies everyday.(ok. ok. did not mean to scare you!!)

Ok, Facts first.


  1. IGIDR, one of the premier instis of Mumbai for research studies,boasts of international level infrastucture
  2. Great faculty
  3. Great corporate presence ( since its an RBI thing, Fin institutions recruit a lot of people
  4. Location advantage (Mumbai, the hub of money and finance)
  5. Opportunity to study with intelligent, serious and like minded individuals. So its round-the-clock learning. ( good or bad, you decide)
You wud have got most of this stuff from the website but, what the hell, I needed to jhaadofy some gyaan, right?!!!!

So whats ur background? Bachelors in Eco?

Anyway, i hope you enjoyed reading this reply. Help hua ki nahin, vo to pata nahin as you were specifically looking for people IN IGIDR. I think it will take me at least 5 years to get an IGIDR call and another 5 to convert it!!!!

Anyway, what kind of a username is that? what does it mean?

i thought tht i should be writing in this forum...coz this year too i got a call frm igidr like last year.....but last year eligibility criteria ws 55 percent n being an delhi univ eco grad....i didnt get tht much marks....so went thr for fun...n some tourist purpose...lol...whtevr...i m not taking the interview this year as i ve already joined indian institute of forest management bhopal.......can give u few tips fr interview......
brush up statistics very welll......specifically.....correlation,regration n matrices.they always ask abt ur fav subject....so prepare well on tht.welfare economics......ve a look.generally 6-8 ppl in d panel....n they offer u even coffee during interview......they ll give u some stats prom n ask u to solve it on black board....which s green thr.
overall campus s really cool....n food s salubrious n tasty.....it ll be fun getting interviewd thr.

thank u so much for the info.....so i guess i beter brush up stats...n th rest...
k, i have a few more q's: -

  1. what are the placements like, at igidr?
  2. does the MSc prog lay stress on any specific fields?
  3. someone told me the syllabus there is 'outdated' (didnt know wot to make of tht).....
  4. in the interview, do they ask a lot of current affairs?!!! and the other questions, are they text-bookish or application oriented?
and well, am not all that padhaku types!! hardly actually...!!at the moment, all i',m hoping for is a decent final year result, bt with delhi univ u just cant predict anything!

oh.. another of my frienz hv got thru igidr.. bt sachchi mein, both of my frienz r typical geek, college toppers.. n the one whu topps economics hons in a delhi university college with an aggregate of 70% is really "SUMTHIN":wow:

By the way IGIDR is an exceptional institution with extraordinary placements. I have recently heard that a graduate of IGIDR got selected for 8L worth placement.

This is a very old thread and was dormant from 2006.
I request you to search for relevent thread, though have doubt that theres no thread related to IGIDR.

Check with some munbai thread. They might help you with this.

Is this a reputed college & has a demand in market scenerio.....becoz i never listen about this college......I have given CAT 2012 ..i got good percentile for MBA...& I havea call from Delhi university for MIB MHROD course in DSE & IIT kharagpur also....IS IGIDR have same reputation like DU & IITs.......I am an engineer ,If i selected in IGIDR should i take this institute compare to Delhi university for MIB MHROD in dse.....Plz reply....
