Hi people,

I've got an interview call from MIP, Italy.
(MIP Politecnico di Milano School of Management -Italiano)

They have called the interview as a "motivation interview" any idea what exactly this means?
Also if someone has attended the MIP interview could he / she share with me some info about it?

If someone has any info at all about MIP's International MBA program could he / she please share it with me?
According to the website and some other info MIP is supposed to be rated as a top MBA in Italy in terms of student quality.

Any info shared will be very useful for me in making my final decision.

Thanks and Regards,

Deepak.

I plan to pursue my MBA in MIP in the Design Managment/ New Product & Venture Development Concentration.
I did have a few queries which i would apppreciate if you can clarify for me. Thanks in Advance.

What kind of placement records have been registered for the international MBA students over the last year?
As i understand Milan is known to be the design capital of the world, with respect to this what kind of career paths (especially in product design ) are available to students after graduating from MIP?
What kind of positions do International students graduating from MIP, especially students choosing design managment/ New product & venture development assume?
How much of importance would you place on knowledge of Italian Language when it comes to finding jobs?

Hi Shankar
Sorry for the late reply as there are just too many assignments and group works going on. I think you have a good profile. With your GMAT score, I don't think you will have problem to get admitted.

What kind of placement records have been registered for the international MBA students over the last year?
A:As I know, you can find this info in the brochure. If not, let me know and I will ask the Career Services office.

As i understand Milan is known to be the design capital of the world, with respect to this what kind of career paths (especially in product design ) are available to students after graduating from MIP?

A: Based on my observation, design world don't really need a MBA. However, I heard some of our alumni ended up in the Innovation and Branding area, but outside of Italy. There are many events related to design going on here, I heard some previous students got some company contacts through these events.
What kind of positions do International students graduating from MIP, especially students choosing design managment/ New product & venture development assume?
A: I don't have details. But I heard they have alumni working for Ferrari, Aston Martin, and other branding companies.
How much of importance would you place on knowledge of Italian Language when it comes to finding jobs?
A: Most of us are looking outside of Italy (eg Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, etc) for job search. Heard that Italy has a low salary comparatively. Not a place for those who are looking for a quick ROI...:) The reason most of us choose here because of the program and its location. It is a great life experience. But, not so keen on getting a job in Italy.

Hi Sandeep,

Thanks a lot for taking the time off to reply to my queries. Would it be possible to message me to my email: [email protected]. ( i dont visit pagal guy so often these days )

I had a doubt on the application front, i hope you dont mind... They have asked a series of 11 questions ( i guess it was the same for you too ) but without no prescribed word limit. Under such situation, i am a bit worried if i write in too much detail, they would not have the time to read it and at the same time if its too little , i may not be able to come through as well i would like... was there any guidelines you followed with this regard?

Also with regards to scholarship, how soon would i have to put in an app to be eligible? the deadline is 31st dec and i would be apping by mid nov? would that be still make me eligible?

last but not the least, would you know if i would be able to defer the admit incase i cannot join by may 2009?

Thanks so much in advance. Also can u please give me a small background on you. whr u from?

Hi Sandeep

Nice to have someone like you in the blog. I came across this blog while surfing some info on MIP.

Firstly, I should start with my introduction.

I am currently working with one of the leading KPO's worldwide. My total work experience is more than 3 years. I am keen on pursuing MBA from abroad and have been searching for options for past 5-6 months. 1 month back, I was advised by a counseller in Princeton Review to look for admission in MIP or Bocconi as these match my criteria and limitations.

My Background:

X- CBSE: 77%, XII- CBSE: 79%, B.SC Elect (H)- DU: 64%, PGDBA (SCDL- Correspondence): 79%, CFP (FPSB India), PG Diploma in Financial Planning (ICFP, India- not much renowned college).

Limitations:

Scarce funding arrangements

Purpose

My sole purpose to join an abroad institute is to multiply my compensation.

Questions/ Clarifications: I think you are the best person to help me with these

1) Are the univ(s) right fit for me?
2) How have been the placements firstly for Indian people/ secondly for people with finance background and those who pursue specialisation in finance?
3) Any idea about size and compensation offered in India to the passouts?

Also, please let me know if can connect somewhere to find information on this as I have been trying to find people or groups but have been unsuccessful so far.

Your advice would be really helpful for me.

Thank you very much

Regards
Hitesh
