The cat cutoff will be 90 percentile.

for 2011-13 batch only MICAT and then GD PI were in the selection criteria... now they have included CAT as well?!??! any idea, will CAT percentile will be an important filter??

This link here leads nowhere, pl check.
Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA) has announced the admission for the 2012-14 batch of its flagship program PGDM (Communications) on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Unlike the last two years, for admissions 2012 MICA will accept CAT 2011 scores for short listing the candidates. The application process is going on at present.

Traditionally MICA used to conduct admission through CAT scores and the shortlisted candidates had to take MICAT exam. But since 2009, when CAT went computer based and faced severe technical glitches, MICA decided to do away with CAT scores and conducted the admission on the basis of MICAT scores. The admission process for the batches 2010-12 and 2011-13 took place in this way.

According to Dr. Arbind Sinha, Associate Director, MICA, the reason for going back to accepting the CAT scores is the AICTE notification released in December 2010, which stipulated that for admission to any management institute, the scores of the national MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT, MAT or ATMA has to be considered.

He also mentioned that MICA is also planning to register MICAT so that the institute is able to consider only MICAT for selecting the students in the future.

Selection Criteria
The selection of students at MICA will take place in three steps. Candidates will be first shortlisted on the basis of their CAT 2011 scores.

The second stage is MICAT. The shortlisted candidates will have to take MICAT exam. Those who will be able to crack MICAT will be shortlisted for the third step of selection, which are the Group Exercise and Personal Interview.

MICAT will be held in select venues across India. The GE and PI processes will take place at the MICA campus.

Eligibility
Candidates applying for MICA should have a Bachelors Degree or its equivalent in any discipline recognized by AICTE. The other criteria are same as applicable to CAT 2011.

Important Dates
The application process is going on at present.

-- The online Admission forms are available till January 20, 2012.

-- The last date of submission of Admission forms is January 24, 2012.

-- MICAT Call letters will be issued in February 2012.

-- The GE & PI will be held on February to March.

-- The results will be declared on April 2012.

-- The Session will commence from the last week of June 2012.

Fees
The application fee for MICA is Rs. 1,750. The tuition fee is Rs. 3.52 lakh.

addrija Says
is it true that those securing minimum 90%ile in cat (not even 89.9) will move on to stage-2??? or its just a guess and no such cut-off has been decided upon??? someone plz shed light on it!

This is based on the %ile requirements of MICA when they accepted CAT scores previously. This year it can be different it can be more or less if they want a bigger pool. Lets not think about that and concentrate on our preparations for the CAT and then THE BIG MICAT.
