2.placements started around third week of january...........starting with lateral placements.........continues happily till end of first week of feb..........
Then you have the (in)famous slot 0....with around 25 companies..........:huh:
3. This time they had only 30..........and not 120 students to be placed on day 1............the four hours wala day..... .............30 students in four hours and not 120 in four hours, i repeat...........that explains the logistical discrepancies..............:oha:
4. Some companies in slot zero...i.e. the seven days...........this sure is confusing............try cross checking if u want to............GE caps, GE money, GE India, IBM, nestle, cadburys, itc, dhl, william mercer, deutsche bank............and many more

in some the queries thread ..some XLer said that they have 55 % public with workex ...yeah right ..if u count 3 months workex n ppl working as Project Assistants in IIT as work ex...they quote 6.99 lacs as their median salary in their admission brochure last year ..now their current batch says that last year median was 7.43 lac ...i dare them to come out with 5 names of the companies which paid this much...with the salary details...and plss dont include the cost of the desk n chair they use in the job....."

Some clarifications:
People usually do not divulge data wrt laterals and common offers - where company does a cv shortlist and invite candidates from different B-schools to one place for selecting them - as it might affect the placement process.
We quoted down in the admissions brochure - this news from relevant source dude..
The placement starts from March 4th.. and we will be coming up with stats which reflect how much they are actually paid : not CTC - desk & bench, training costs, company's cost for the recruitment process etc.
Cost To Company explains - I guess - the phenomena of people having a minimum salary of > 6 Lakhs p.a where the major recruiters were Infy, Wipro, TCS, Patni etc.
Will post details when the placements are over: Laterals, common offers, 'pure' foregin placements, median , highest - least etc.
and u know it is a very bad habit to take names of instis and accusing em blatantly...... u cud have been euphemistic coz wen u say bout XLRI and all ...wow now how am i supposed to blv that wat u said is true and wat XLRI ppl calim is false???just coz they run a B SCHOOL which has very gud reputation....and all the BS u've said bout online placements at XLRI...wat else can be done online apart frm the things u've mentioned??? and how do u know that studs dint apply online for ne company coz AFAIK there r a lot of companies which accept ONLY online registration....
We try to get the companies down here as far as possible - online placement is the exception, not the norm.... would have liked to say more, but waiting for info from the horse's mouth...

The corporates at the end of the day know all freakin B schools have their own logic of showcasing their results to the world...whether or not any other B school gets the logic in the same way,is a different matter altogether. Young buggers who are probably aspiring to get into Bschools as of today may want to absolve from figuring out the logic/mechanism behind such analyses, considering that us current Bscholars ourselves don't get it half the time. Over time, one gets accustomed to accept it...and its really not wrong or right, its just an accepted phenomena...
Aren't you guys also tired of endless criticism and sarcasm among the various Bschools in India..as it is we stand nowhere in terms of Bschools globally, even if its our very own esteemed IIMA ? Isn't it time we stand up for ourselves, stop cribbing and fighting among ourselves, maybe join forces at some level (Think:Harvard+Stanford).....and then think about growth...whatever?
And in any case, its a moment of reckoning..probably that of elation,joy and happiness for all those placed....Let them have their moment..why put a doubt in their heads eventually? How many Bschool placements stay in their first job for more than 2-3 years anyway ?

Can u throw some light on the banks that came to mdi this yr. n what profiles did they took students for. Actually i've been selected for the pgpm in mdi n want to pursue fin. so was curious abt this. Also if u can suggest which would be better xlri(bm) or mdi fo fin.

I am a man with work ex. presently i get about 3 lakhs per annum ( hard cash, excluding it,loans pf ltc medical etc). my two year salary will be 6.5 + 6 for mdi. 20 year pay back will mean an EMI of 7 thousand add to it my increments will i be able to get a job from mdi with hard cash component of about 5 lakhs ( no taxes, or other benifits inluded) ????
Not to mention that i will have to relocate to a metro after mdi so the purchasing power diff. Guys help me out.

One Point: There is no mention of the "value addtion" in this analysis of pay back period.. One must not miss that out.. that apart.. u hv increased mobility... diversity and better level of job/ contribution.. MDI might not be the best college for manufacturing/ operations.. if u hv SP/ NITIE.. u should go for them.. MDI is very good for Marketing and Fin to a certain extent.. more so if u r of 0-2 yr work ex.. my views !.

Guys what he has put across is as real as it gets.. The salary package part of it.. i m not sure abt the zero slot.. day 0 etc.. and dont really care abt it..
I hv been working for the past 4 yrs.. hv seen load of junta from IIMs ( the lower half of the batch.. the upper half never joined the companies i know).., XLRI, NITIE, SP Jain, MDI, Bajaj, symbiosis, etc.. I personally know atleast 50 such guys as close friends/ acquintances.. and believe me.. * 6 lakh pay ctc is a considered very good pay in the industry for freshers MBAs.... it gives u around 38 -40 in hand ( depending on the structure ofcourse).. anything above that..u hv to be a so called "GOD" or lucky.. * very few Indian companies pay around 7 to 7.5 ( ICICI bank, accenture, bpo's)..thats because they extra that much extra work too.. * work ex junta in consultancy may get around 7.5 to 8 lakh.. * Many jobs are of the range of 5.5 to 6 ( even in the IIMs of the world).
Dont know if things hv changed drastically in the last year !.. but I doubt so..
I think one should not get too much obssessed and dizzy about these figures.. I think it should remain only in the "front of the back of your mind"..
