I am having same profile like u.... am having 20 months of work exp as of now and i have already denied the 3 years onsite trip.... and on top of that informed my boss about my resignation on the day of my annual apprasial.... of cousrse my salary is less than urs buddy.... This all becos
1. Onsite trip is like a carrot that all IT companies use.... why u should just flush the idea out of ur mind is.... 1.1 That u will definitely get after u do ur MBA... that too in the line that u want rather than the line which u want to get out of (like me) 1.2 Just see the placement scene across board man.... @ IIM A atleast 10 ppl opted for indian jobs not only becos desh ki dharti but becos of better job profile, India is going to be hub of everything (has already began), and of course man u work for ur country... so i have already removed this onsite bug from my mind .... its upto u know....
2. Regarding consulting jobs... see dont know abt dude.... but i luv the IT industry only thing is i want to move to consulting area as compared to present delivery line... for this as of now i am planning to have a combo of IT and marketing as my specialization... so if u are talking abt this consulting... u have E&Y;, PWC, Ramco, Infy, Barcklays etc....
after some more introspection i want to find answers to these
1) If i continue with IT , will MDI be a value addition.. (not only in terms of salary) ..but also in terms of job profile... MDI seniors please give details of job profile offered to laterals... (i think job profile offered by IT companies...across B-schools is the same.. ?)
2) switching over to finance... need feedback on job profile in equity research.
I think candid feedback from MDI seniors will help many of us make an informed choice.
I get a feeling that this thread is not frequented by MDI guys.. can some one pls bring this to MDI pgites attention.
It would not be a bad idea if you actually come down tyo MDI one day and find out all the stuff you need straight from the horse's mouth.. as the saying goes..

THIS IS NOT TRUE - ALL YOUR ELECTIVES HAVE to be HR. FIRST YEAR IS NOT COMMON EITHER - There are variations in the HR course.
Please refrain from posting what you are not sure about. As for the others who are posting queries, please do not rely on anything other than what the seniors in MDI tell you.
As for IRMA vs HR - in a business perspective, IRMA wont get you anywhere, MDI would. But again, I do not say this to demean rural management, I say this because it wont be relevant considering your long term goals.
Besides, we do learn all subjects in MDI in PGP HR in the first year, so on that count, it does make sense to take it up. A couple of years in the industry would then make you fit enuf to start out on your own.

hey mdi seniors, today is 1st april. the update of the wl was supposed to b out 2day. mdi was on time 4 the first list, then y delay now. ne idea by when will tht b out ? n secondly, will they b puttin it up on the net ? or v will have 2 trouble u guys again 2 check it ?? also if seniors could find out as to how many of the 360 shortlisted have paid the fees ? this would give a fair idea for ppl who r wl'ed ?
hi dude!u have to call up mdi admissions office to know ur waitlist status. i called them up yesterday and the guy asked me to check on the 3rd of may as that is the deadline to pay up the first installment and then only we'll know how many guys are leaving their seats for iim's.so i guess u too have to wait till 3rd may,kurt. p.s.-by the way me wl 18 in hr.what about u???????????
hey guys i 've been waitlisted at 17 for the PGP HR course and in the letter was asked tocheck my status on 1st of APRIL .i had called up ,,but the person who answered was very rude and didnt reply properly so could any 1 check up the status

they asked me too to check the waitlist status on 3 may........seniors do u think waitlist ppl stand any chance
I will not be joining MDI .... will be heading to blore this summer... thanks a lot to i would say the most active seniors as well as thread.... all the best for the future endeavours.... always keep in touch as i dont want to loose such enthu junta like u....
