Hi,
I am applying to the Fall 2011 term at Desautels. I have already submitted the online application on March 15. Will be sending over the supporting documents in a couple of days.
What about you? Have you submitted all your documents? If yes, any replies yet?
Hey Kartik..
Good to hear that you are applying to Desautels. I have an admit from McGill. Good luck with the submission of supporting documents. Let me know if you require any help with the same.
I too have an admit but chances are slim that I will join...
May I ask in that case what is your preference ?

Why not...I have zeroed onto HEC, Montreal....now before you ask the reason in ur next post 😃 here u go....there is only 1 reason and that is total cost of the program(though i have 1/4th of the tuition fees as scholarship from Mcgill).

Soham,
I have some questions in mind regarding the application:
1) When did you apply to the program? In how many days did the college revert on the application status? I am sking this primarily out of a concern that I have submitted my application at a very late stage. This may actually affect my chances of admission and there is also a lengthy procedure in terms of getting a visa for both Canada and Quebec?
2) Could you please share your profile? And were you offered any scholarships from the admission team? My profile is as follows:
GMAT: 620 (Q:48 V:27 AWA:5)
Exp: 4 yrs
Organization: L&T; (Petrochemical & Refinery Business)
Extra Curriculars: Decent
College Grade: 7.5/10
What dou think are my chances of getting an admission? I know this is a cliched question since the admission hinges on various factors. But still a feedback regarding my chances can actually motivate me.
Thanks in advance.
Heya!
I have also got an admit from McGill 😃 and in all likelihood will join.
@Soham: are u planning to join or are looking at other options?
@Kartik: Hope u have already submitted your supporting docs. I was done with my interview within 3 weeks time from the date they received my docs. A lot depends on your overall profile and how well u portray it in your essays. All the best!

@AmyPhu: I submitted my supporting documents on April 5. Don't know how long the school takes to review and revert with an offer or rejection. Though, when did you submit your application and when did the admission committee conduct your interview?
Can you please share your profile? Soham, you too, please.

Hi Mukul,
Could you please share your profile?
690/M/30 years/7 years(5 years IT + 2 years own Start-up). EC's doesnt matter..coz was never asked though have lot of them...sports mainly.
Let me know in case you wanna know anything else.
Mukul,
I had a look at your profile. Its pretty envious. You have quite a significant amount of experience under your belt! And your GMAT score tops too!
On the flip side, if I were in your place, I would surely opt for a one year program. Because, you will probably need to upgrade and advance your skills rather than change your niche industry.
With regards to the application for admission to McGill, how was the interview conducted? Who was sitting on the panel? What queestions did you face?
Getting answers to these questions will help me in a long way in clearing my interview (if I do get shortlisted for it).

Hi Arit,
The program does sound quite costly when one converts the $ to INR. However, these fees actually match the standards on offer. I have no shadow of doubt that the fees actually does justice to the course and the expectations of the students.
And pertaining to your question, I would probably expect a total tuition fee of 30 lacs (Assuming you are not awarded any scholarship. Don't be too optimistic on this since there is tough competition). The other expenses (living+food+phone+misc) will expend another 19 lacs from your pocket. So expect a total expenditure of 50 lacs to become a hallowed alumni of the Desautels Faculty of Management.
Could you highlight your profile? When did you send the application and the supporting documentation?

well when I started my mba journey, I was looking for 1 year options only....but filled up other colleges too...
interview was conducted my Mr. Jonathan Khayat(it was over phone and he was the only person in the panel)..
he is an amazing person to talk to....just be relaxed and do not worry about interview much....
typical questions were; why mba, why mcgill, my professional experience so far and my post mba goals....hobbies etc....
be honest...be clear about ur past accomplishments and ur future post-mba goals and long term goals...and u shud crack it !
all the best and do let me know how it went....do well...

@Kartik: My documents reached McGill on the 4th of march and and my interview was on the 25th. I got the reply in one week's time. They told me that at max they take 2 weeks to reply after the interview.
My profile: GMAT 650/27/Electrical Engineer/4yrs exp/good acads
My interview was with Antoinette Molino (Assistant Director, MBA Admissions). The interview had general ques but I was informed just one day earlier about it. So prepare beforehand about the school n all.
@All: Does anyone know anything about student loan options in Canada? Are we eligible for it? Or would we need a guaranteer living there? Is anyone in contact with any alumni or current student?
