Hi all,

CHANGE is one thing that has typically characterized my course Master Of Business Economics
at Delhi University over the past few years.

Changing pedagogy, great job profiles, best of salaries, growing popularity and recognition amongst students and corporate alike - all this has made MBE a much sought after course.

Although a three year old thread on MBE already exists, but with the change the information on it is almost obsolete so here is a new thread for all wannabe MBEites.

You are welcome to shoot your queries.......

Hi i am doing MBA , i want to know what exactly is difference in course content

:)The forms will be available in the first week of November.
The written entrance exam will be held around second week of Feb, 2008.(Last year it was on 11th Feb).

:) As per the last year's test (unlikely to change this year):
The written test will be of 2 hrs. duration, with following 4 sections:

(1) Mathematical comprehension
(2) Logical reasoning
(3) Business and economic awareness
(4) English

:) As per last year's placement performance ( this year's process-for the batch of 2008 hasn't started yet )

Students were absorbed in Financial Analytics, Marketing Analytics, Consulting, Research and other Managerial roles (Treasury, Operations, Banking etc. etc.) in Companies like American Express, Ernst & Young, SBI Mutual Funds, ICICI, HDFC, RocSearch, McKinsey Knowledge Center etc. etc.

For the records, the packages had

Mean : 5.8 lacs p.a.
Median: 6.0 lacs p.a.

Hope all this helps

NOT AT ALL!!!!
infact 4 out of the 5 toppers in the final batch are from the science and engineering pack. But then it does require some amount of hard work.
BTW even i'm a B.Tech in IT:grab:

Hi Apoorv,

Need some info.

Roughly how many people appear for the entrance and how many of them are called for the interview?

Also is this course similar to MA in Economics?

Also can you please provide some info. regarding the entrance paper like dificulty level as comapred to other DU entrance paper like MFC, MIB & MHROD, GBO-SRCC.

Thanks in advance.

Julu

well i dnt have an exact idea abt the no of ppl sitting for the exam but roughly it wud be around 8000-10000 i guess.
last year they called 175 ppl for the interview(including gen/sc/st/ph)
well the course is not similar to MA economics rather it is more inclined towards an MBA
with a mix of management and eco papers. also u have dual specialisation (finance/marketing/HR/econometrics/operations).so its quite unique course in itself n different from a conventional MA degree in economics.
Now regrdin the diffculty level i wud say that MIB,MHROD,MFC,MBE are roughly of the same difficulty level with GBO being the easiest one.(i appeared for all last year)

if u still have any further queries, feel free to ask
All the best..

gd n pi's are just like in any other b school... u can have anythin n everythin as the gd topics...well i suggest u not to think abt the post entrance exam situation at the moment as of now. just focus on the written test for now. once u clear that we can have detailed discussion on gd n pi's later on.
all the best

Hi Apoorv,

first of all, thanks for initiating this thread on MBE :)....
well, i am in final year electronics engg. and have filled up the form for MBE/ MFC and MIB/MHROD.......the glitch is that i haven't prepared for CAT or any other MBA exams throughout the past year ( as many of my companions had done understandably )......but having given the CAT and having an esttimated score of around 65 ( as per the CL site's answer key ), i wish to believe that given the right guidance and areas to work on, I can manage to grack the written test.

Could you please suggest me any books/ methods to go about preparing for the exam at such a short notice ??

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Blindside.
