As the name of the thread suggests my concerns are abt my m.bom examination which I am gonna appear this april from mumbai university?It would be of grt help if any one of my fellow pgites could help me by answering my queries?
I am b.com graduate with average overall score.
I want to go to united states for my future studies either in masters in finance or masters in financial engineering .Wanted to mba but think do not posses the required leadership qualities and stellar extra curricular activities to impress top b schools of usa!!!!!!!!!
My queries are:
1)i know many top b schools accept students with only b com degree for there mba programmes , but does this imply for masters in finance or masters in financial engineering courses also?
2)if yes? then could u name some universities which accept students with b.com degree?
3)i have applied for correspondence m.com degree (2 yrs course applied for part one)from Mumbai university? some of my frds told me that u have to apply for full time m.com to be considered as16th year of education?And all big universities do not accept students with correspondences m.com?is it true?
4)also they told me that u need to complete your full degree(which means two year in my case by correspondence) to be valid as a m.com degree? very tensed and confused abt this, don't know what to do? if this is true than all my plans will have to shifted to next year which I don't want to do?
5)also could any one tell me how do they calculate gpa? do they take only board examination into consideration ,or do they take only f.y.b.com , s.y.b.com and t.y.b.com into consideration, if they accept only board examination then I have a great score?
But if they take my f.y.b.com and s.y.com marks then my percentage will gradually fail ,
As usually commerce students(my case) don't take these exams seriously, don't prepare much and don't score much? i repend on this very much as know one told me that these exams have to taken seriously?
6)also would like to know if any of our fellow pgites is taking m.com part 1 from Mumbai university with me? if yes then do let me know we can prepare together?
7)I would like to know from which books we should prepare to get maximum marks in the exams and which could cover almost all the topics of the sylabbus?the study material provided by university is not up to the mark and the accounts textbooks contains a lot of mistakes? My m.com subjects are:
1)advanced financial accounting
2)advanced cost accounting
3)economics
4)businesss policy.
lastly how much time should I give to my mcom preparation considering my m.com examination are in first week of april to score 85%?

Sorry I can't help you with any of your questions relating to studies abroad. But mebbe I can help with Info on the M.Com examinations considering i've taken it myself
Yeah your right the material provided by the University is not up to the mark. What you can do is to refer to books by S.Parveen who has written books for almost all the M.Com Subjects. Addtionally do take the time and solve question papers relating to the last 4-5 years which can be of immense help.
Regarding scoring a high percentage.....that's subjective....but if u put in 1 month's dedicated study and solve a few question papers then a high percentage should not be a problem. Key would be to ensure high scores in the Accounting papers as they are more often than not the most scoring.

now u have advised me s praven books
i have the following four subjests to give for my m.com
1)advanced financial accounting
2)advanced cost accounting
3)business policy
4)business economy
do u mean that for all the four subjects, u suggest me s parveens books.
i have heard s parveen notes are good only for economics and business policy?
for accounts there is some other author,dont know which one?
have u given the same subjects?not questioning u advice but just curious?
