no one for M.Com?

I am myself planning to do an M.com but i m still doing research on colleges i have my option opened to all states, I want to pursue M.com and especially wanna specialize in Finance so there are now option to do M.com (Finance) and M.com (General..the golden olden). As u have suggested not mentioned about the specialization and have only mentioned the state and that too via Distance Mode..so there are lots of choices:

University of Mumbai offers M.com in Advanced Accounting and taxation ( But i m not sure whether they are distance education).

There are lots of course offered by ICFAI through Distance mode and since its a distance education it doesnot matter where u are ...the only stuff that accounts is u ahve a local test and study centre.

University of Pune sure must be offering distance education but for that u might have to look for yourself as i have not covered that college.

As far as i m concerened u should rather do MS FINANCE from ICFAI its a quality program although its a distance education it might open doors for u in future...that that will beneficial to u if u want to pursue a career in finance.

kindly suggesst which university would be suitable?there are some south india based universities which have centres all over india(including mumbai).are these universities good and reputed? like- university of madras, madurai kamraj university, alagappa university, annamalai university etc.

I really don't have any idea abut the quality and content of the program that they offer but i seriously think M.com from distance education is not a good idea? but don't swallow it purely on subjective basis it might have some advantage to u ...like flexibility to study, work plus education and lots more!!???!!???!!

u should consult your professors....at the end what do u want a good career but a late start or an early start but a boring and slave job. because i don't think M.com from distance will take u places.

Rishabh

have a look at the syllabus of University Of Pune.

I am still an undegraduate B.com IGNOU wanting to make a career in equity research. Considered doing M.com Financial Services though my privileges will be Msc Finance ICFAI due to its power pack course content.(M.com Financial services is my back up plan). I will be completing my UG in 2007.
I have downloaded the files (pdf files..courses) lets see how is other Uni courses. How tough is it to get into MCom financial services....mean whats their entrance exam like...what all do they ask?

M.Com with these specialisations are as useful as any other finance related courses.check out job sites and then only you will realise how useful m.com is in financial sector. people with m.com background are also considered for posts such as equity research analyst, derivatives analyst ,research associate etc. many of my seniors who are equity research analyst, you (especially deepnarainsurya) will be surprised to know, are m.coms with diploma in financial management from AIMA. to get into equity research you will need to learn a lot , sirf degree hi kaafee nahin hain. you can also pursue CFA from ICFAI.you can take advice from TumTum and BaBu regarding CFA(ICFAI).

please also visit monsterindia.com, naukri.com and jobsahead.com and search for equity research and M.Com.

and yes do enroll for a course from tallysolutions. it's course contents are excellent. visit www.tallysolutions.com.i am attaching the course structure.

hey babu,
me too from New Delhi, what have you decided regarding M.Com(Financial Services) from Annamalai University? are you enrolling this year or not?let me know(i am also interested in this course).

Hi rishabh,

Me not enrolling for M.com financial university. The course is good but as i am already doing CFA ICFAI and later on CIIA, i dont think so many degrees can help me to get a job.

My final target is something like this: B.Com(hons. already done in 2003) + CFA ICFAI + CIIA + 4 NCFM certificates.

What you have decided for your career?

this year i will apply to M.Com(Financial Services) from Annamalai University alongwith CFP(certified financial planner) course. the exams are held at all the centres of national stock exchange of india limited. the fees is Rs 40,000(full).
i have had a talk with a student who's pursuing CFP. he said that course is not very difficult, one need to study maximum 5-7 hours a week.the student is AFP(because he has not graduated yet). what do you have to say about this course?should i join it?

Hey there
Well I am doing M.Com 1st year frm Pune university.would be writing the exam soon.
Don't know much about Mumbai or south Indian universities so can't really compare.
I am having a tough time studying for special subjects (Business Practices & Business Environment in my case)as there is no one proper text book but the university has given a list of tons & tons of reference books but u don't find any thing much related to the syllabus in it.Is there any one already doin M.Com & facing the same prob?

i do not know if someone's facing the similar problem but can you tell me why did you opt for an M.Com?what do you plan to do next? suppose if i enrol for M.Com from Pune University how much time will i have to dedicate every day to pass the examination with 60% marks? the course structure of pune university seems quite rigorous, what do you feel? are you a part time student or full time student? is it possible to work full time and carry on with M.Com alongside?let me know

Hi
Why am I doing M.com?
Many reasons. Itz the most natural step for a B.Com grad. Also coz it would b an added qualification & by the end of 2 years
I would have double degrees & it would make my resume look better(I would b joining SIMS frm this july for PGDM Full Time).
Most imp of all it would improve my knowledge.
Can u work & do M.COM?
Yes u can work full time & carry on wid M.Com.
I am doing a correspondence course in M.Com as I dont think its worth spending my full time on it.
Mostly Ppl do it as a correspondence course either coz they r working or studying something else.
Course content
There r 4 subjects in the 1st year
Management Accounting , MIS & 2 special subjects(u have 2 select out of a list given by the university).
How much time ull have 2 devote everyday?
Chillax .Its damn easy. Its not rocket science dude!!! 2 months of prep is more than enough to get thru wid a 60+ %
Accounts also does not involve final A/Cs or bank financial statements & stuff(although I used 2 luv it in my under grad days). Its simple costing ,prep of cash, flexible budgets etc.
Hope I have answered all ur queries.
Regards
& All the Best
