Hello Lucknowites! :

I noticed there was no thread on PG specially for CAT 2011 aspirants so I thought its just the right time to start one.

Main objective, which the title also clearly speaks: A group of ALL THE ASPIRANTS (mind it, not just toppers ) to come forward for active interaction and mainly to build an active and healthy competition.

I'm a working professional, hence, haven't joined any MBA preps classes. Though I do have experience of it in 2009. Lack of interaction with CAT 2011 aspirants is making it difficult for me to be regular in studies as I'm not one of those bright, self motivated aspirants :-(

I dont need to tell the already puys what a thread like this is all about  But for newbiezzz.. Its about studies, mocks, your scores, performance, weaknesses, strengths, inspirations, your career path, etc etc.. In short, your whole detailed journey to make it to your dream B-school..and hey..also to develop and maintain such relationships formed in this journey taken together! :cheerio:

This thread is open for any changes anyone of you wants to make. Like nominating reserves, mentors, official members, etc etc.. Because honestly, I'm a newbie PG and has little knowledge of how the threads are regularly managed. Also, I'm yet to become a committed PG so it'll be good if people who are old on PG and are about to prepare and take CAT 2011, in fact, anyone who is from Lucknow who has cracked CAT or are in Bschools, to come forward in managing this thread.

Hope to see a good number of Lucknow puys/newbies participating and making this thread a real active classroom of brilliant thoughts, consistent hard work, will power and loads and loads of ambition and inspirations...just so that every member of this thread achieves his/her dream B-school ! :cheerio:

Let the game begin...!

Buddy

Good work

Just one modification required πŸ˜ƒ All study group threads are in preparation resource ( Prep Resources - PaGaLGuY.com - The Everything of MBA in India and Abroad, CAT 2011, GMAT, XAT, MAT ) section. And PG meet threads are in this community section where you have opened the thread :)

We do have lot of 'non preparation' related discussions in PG meet ( say LKO PG Milan thread ) , so it might hinder the flow of regular preparation related discussions on Study group thread :)

Will get this corrected πŸ˜ƒ

Cheers and All the best for CAT 2011 Journey!

Oh so that means for making a PG meet group, LKO, I'll have to make another thread? for 2011 aspirants?

So what is this Lucknow Dream team 2010 all about?

tavishi.g Says
So what is this Lucknow Dream team 2010 all about?

Dream Team is a concept which will come into play at a later stage of the season. Regional and National Dream Teams are meant for people who do consistently good in mocks and have the passion to share their knowledge with felloe puys plus they are active on forum. There are few more factors which decide the Dream Team.

Once the right time for the same comes, everyone will be intimated. Do not worry about it at this stage.

For time being focus on preparation, score well in mocks and remain active on forum πŸ˜ƒ

And as far as PG meet thread is concerned, let the season end officially with AIPGM on 28/29 may, we will have new thread for the upcoming session after it :)

All the preparation related stuff can be continued on this thread .. involve as many people as you can and make them active on forum.. prepare with puys, share knowledge , learn from others and perform well in exams :)

Cheers
Varun

@tavishi.g :Nice initiative, though I feel a google group of Lucknow Study Group can also be made, depending on the members ready to be a part of it. I personally like getting things done on my mail(sorry for that, I am completely new to PG,and also new to CAT prep.) If some of us are up for it,then we can form the group and share our plans and strategies right from now on. πŸ˜ƒ

:DSauron20,
The thing is, when it comes to MBA preps most of the aspirants come to PG for sharing studies plans etc etc. Unlike google, PG is the common hub for MBA aspirants. Though I personally dont mind sharing studies and the whole journey with the other aspirants on any site. But PG is the only place where we would be able to form a real group or find ppl like us. For your convenience, what you can do is, when there are ample number of members on this thread, you can take initiative to continue MBA related discussions with them on google. :D
For that you'll have to wait for aspirants to become aware of this thread :)

If you have any other ideas as to how to form a study group, be it on google, please feel free to take the initiative. 😁

@tavishi.g,
I have created a google group for the same purpose:

Lko_cat_2011 | Google Groups

I think that there are no other forums specifically for Lucknow .So,considering the few number of puys on this thread,we will be getting even less response on the group.Lets await for the response for a few days, please keep on encouraging ppl to join the group or at least be active on this thread in the meantime.Else, what we can do is create a group irrespective of the city where we come from. The idea is to maximize the interaction and sharing of study plans, otherwise there are a lot of forums on PG which deal with the subjects to prepare,in which I believe the "how to study effectively" part goes badly missing.

COUNT ME IN!

will encourage more lucknowites to join this thread.

@aditya5921 Thanx for the initiative.

What I was thinking was that we can discuss our queries/questions from previous years mocks/cat papers.
If someone has a different approach(like preparing a specific chapter in quants then discussing only that portion),then we can consider that too.
But for that we need to have an interactive thread.
Hope that this would be of some help in achieving our aim. πŸ˜ƒ

Pleasantly surprised by the response. I honestly want an interactive group of Lucknow aspirants for cat 2011. I mean like a serious one, one which motivates us all to do better by every day.

To start with, I gave my first CL proc mock on Sunday, it did not go well.`
Im very weak at quants and I need lots of practice and concept clearance in Quants. What are your weak points/subjects? Has anyone of you started with the mocks already?

I am about to join AIMCATs (Time series) as well. Im working so not taking any classes.

To make this thread more interactive, we'll have to let each other know our current status. πŸ˜ƒ

Sauron20, You are right about the "how to study effectively" part. Since Im not taking any classes, I face difficulties is getting things done via shortcuts etc etc.

tavishi.g,Well, don't worry about the first mock test, rather u can share what questions did trouble u and if possible,we will try to answer them. :)
As far as my weak/strong points are concerned, honestly I haven't started out with preparations,so still not clear to me,but I know I am good at Maths,so quants is not so much an issue as is DI and probably verbal,in fact all of these sections require practice.
I am also looking forward to join Time test series, haven't joined CL.
So,thats my status as of now, will start posting questions from tomorrow, and hope so does everyone on this thread.
Happy studying! πŸ˜ƒ

Five people namely Ajay, Anand, Anup, Akash and Arjun work in the same company.
Each one of them owns exactly one of the vehicles from a car, a bicycle, a scooter, a truck and a bus, not necessarily in the given order.
Each of the people has a different height. Exactly two out of the five people are brothers.

Further it is known that:
I.The shortest person does not have a bicycle and the tallest person has neither a car nor a scooter.
II.None of the two brothers is the tallest or the shortest among the given 5 people.
III. Akash has a car and is taller than at least three of the given people.
IV.Ajay does not have a bus. He is taller than exactly one of the two brothers.
V.Anup has a scooter and is not the shortest.

Q.1.) Which of the following are the two brothers?
(1) Arjun and Akash(2) Akash and Anup
(3) Ajay and Akash(4) Cannot be determined

Q.2.) If Arjun is the shortest among the five people and has a bus, then which of the following statements is
definitely true?
(1) Ajay has a bicycle and is one of the brothers.
(2) Anand is the tallest and has a truck.
(3) Ajay has a truck and is taller than exactly 2 of the given 5 people.
(4) None of these

Q.3.) How many of the following statements, if provided independently, would be sufficient to determine
the owner of each of the vehicles?
A. Anand is the shortest among the five people and has a truck.
B. Ajay has a truck and Anand is the tallest.
C. Anand is the tallest among the five people and has a truck.
D. Arjun is not the tallest among the five people and does not have a bus.
(1) 2(2) 1(3) 4(4) 3

My answers:

Ans 1) Akash and Anup
Ans 2) Im getting two options right ! 😞 option 2 and 3.
Ans 3) option 3, i.e. 4 ways.

let me know where I went wrong.
