National Seminar on 'Financial Strategies & Practices for Business Value Creation' in association with Bombay Management Association on 18 January,2014. The seminar saw a congregation of industry experts, faculty members and students. Mr.Vipul Chandra, Head Treasury , Corporate Finance, L&T; presided over as a keynote speaker & Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Management Consultant & Prof (Finance), NMIMS was a Guest of Honour. Also present at the event where Mr. Ravindra Kamath, Member of seminar Advisory Board, office bearers of BMA & Mr. Bhaskar Joshi, Ex-president, BMA.Mr.Ramakrishnan, Vice-Chairman, Jt. Pulse-13, the Annual Sports Day was held on 13th December 2013 & 15th December 2013 for the full time & part-time students respectively. The event saw students, staff and faculty participating in indoor and outdoor activities. In the indoor sports, there were games like Carom, Chess, Pool, Table-tennis & Darts where as in the outdoor games various events like Rink-Football, Cricket, Box-Cricket, 100 & 200 meter race were arranged. The event witnessed great participation and a growing sense of esprit de corps.
The Orientation Programme for second year MMS and PGDM students was held on July 9, 2013. The welcome note was given by the Director Dr R M Kumar who emphasised the importance of dreams and the power they have in shaping one's future. He explained the impact of the prevailing adverse macroeconomic, political, social and natural environment on job market and highlighted the challenges in building careers in such a situation.The guest speaker Mr. Suresh Advani, Chemical Engineer from IIT Bombay, Ex-Head HR, APAC Region, Sandoz India Private Ltd., and currently the Director, 21 Net (India) Ltd., highlighted the importance of hard work and continuous learning. He also indicated the emerging career options and opportunities because of economic growth and ways to seize them. Coining a new word 'DNA' - Destiny Neutral Achievement, he told the students that they should create their own stories of achievement and success, instead of relying on destiny.The second speaker for the day, Mr. Siddharth Nambiar, MBA, M.Com & LLB and currently the Recruitment Head of Peninsula Land Ltd., shared his experiences of interviewing the candidates and stressed upon the importance of displaying confidence during job interviews. He appreciated the summer internship exercise and emphasized the importance of choosing the right specialization.The programme came to a close with some alumni of the institute interacting with the students.
