btw, did i tel u guys .. prats sat in the library all night studying Economics.. said hez aiming a nobel prize... 😉
Ok Guys.
All this while it was me masqurading as Deepak and sending all the mails.
Actually he is the fat lazy bastard. :-)
Ok Ok just kidding.
I am sorry people. Seriously. Life sucks big time. I mean I haven't left this campus in the past 22 days.
See its not like we don't have time for anything except studies, but you life is just sooooo involved with activites on campus that you just don't realize that the outside world exists.
Eco quiz happened today. I mean whatever yaar. The only thing that consoles me now is the one sentence that all seniors with a gpa of less than 2.5/4.0 have been telling me:
"I am here for the learning, not the earning"
Hehehe.
So there. That's teh bestest excuse one can give to oneself(and others) when once screws a quiz.
Pagal, dude can you plz tell me what I can do to make up for the big disappearance. I mean can I like sweep the pagalguy cyber floor or something.
btw, every alternate saturday we have these big parties on campus called L-square parties. The name comes from it being held on a central location in the hostel in the shape of an L. Deepak the fat lazy bastard will tell you where the square comes from.
That party is happening currently. And I am not in it cuz i am trying to punish myself for not doing well in the eco quiz. See no what one has to do in life out here.
Cheers,
Prats.
Nice to see you here prats. I was kinda missing all my old folks
!

ok..we have these hostel blocks from A to J .. and this place it lies between a b and e blocks, i.e ABE blocks. Now ABE was the
nickname of Abraham Lincoln, hence it was called the ABE square, which then
became the Lincoln Aquare or L square
and btw these L Sq parties start at around 12 midnight n go on till abt 5 in the morning.
and aprt frm parties.. we have some plays and competitions as well in L sq..
and recently they put up a basketball ring there so...
and all of a sudden the workload has increased with final dates for lots of submissions coming up.. even the least important course in terms of credits takes a hell lot of time :(
signing off for now

Headbanging??? All I saw you do was drink like a fish and down beer after beer!!!
Anyway, L-Square was great fun. Balaji, Nikhil, myself, Rajeev, Shweta, Guhan, Sanjeev, Mihir and all others had a blast!:)
hehehehe ..... Free booze ......... what else would a person do other than gulp down beers/vodka's/rums/whiskeys down the throat :D
BTW ... last week was a trip down hell ... but probably prepared us ppl for the tough life ahead ... But the L^2 was serious fun ... never danced so much in life ...
Yeah and lots of PGites around ... hoping there would be a even greater number next yr ...
Mihir
Heya everyone,
Im back at pg cos i've got nothing to do all afternoon. Bfore i start, a message to vibhavan- Next time, stay at the Lsquare for some time, not go back to ur room at 2am,we were there till 6am!
Yesterday was our first regular day at IIMB. Two classes, pretty ok. What i learnt so far, from my seniors and by observing professors is, u gotta be terrific at writing/speaking "global". There is no question taht everyone has to work their bottoms off to do well, but guys who can keep using that mba jargon have a distinct advantage. I hope i can pick up some of that in 2 years time.
The profs are too good. Many of them are visiting faculty to some university abroad, got loads and loads of experience with the best names in the business and they all speak/teach very well. The classrooms are large and nice, altho the comfy settings invariably makes u snooze away. Every classroom has the usual blackboard, white screen, projector screen, and a mike system. Most of the pedagogy is thru powerpoint ppts.
The workload is slowly picking up, we already have some assignments to be done and special tutorials by our seniors are gonna begin next week. For every class,u are expected to read a lot of material before u enter the class. I neednt mention about how strict the profs get when it comes to being late. And,god forbid someones cell rings.....he wud be killed. The prof today announced that if anyone's cell rings in the class, hes gonna cut one grade point from his cgpa. That is huge!
Thats bout it from here, me off to get some sleep (no work today u see :P). And guys, those who are preparing this year for cat, work hard and all the best, u'll love this place when u get here 😃 .Bye,
Regards,
Garuda
gr8 post man... free boozing wht else one wants... keep us also updated abt the "global" verbology & "holistic" views...
Global gyaan -> stuff that is in no way related to the issue at hand ... but general stuff abt things
Another interesting thing abt classes here is lots of Arbit CP (Class participation) Courses here include some weightage for that, so that means ppl do CP just for the sake of it. I was very very surprised to hear some ppl even say "Carrying forward my friend's point" like we were in a GD or something. Would have to learn that soon i guess :(
Anyway life here is gr8, one of the most addictive things around is BRacket, or the internal messaging system/web board.
Guys giving CAT this yr, work hard, and land up at B to enjoy life :)
Mihir
Yes, arbit cp, lsquare parties, free booze, orientation week and all that crap. vibhavan, u were too drunk to notice anyone drinking or dancing - not that i was noticing - i was busy as well
And for all those dudes who wanna write CAT and come to Blore for the free booze, its only one-time. The Sat'day when the freshers are welcomed.
I actually thought I'd keep this post for the day i get my comp (that's tomm - or is it today ??) but then guhan pestered me and so this post... and besides i seem to be fairly jobless.... except for reading 2 chapters of daft, finishing that case study and my MO one-minute talk. Also, i dont understand any economics.
junta have already updated u on who from PG is here, basically when u guys get here, u'll have a truckload of fun... who sez Ahd is better? Bangalore Rocks. Or to put it another way, IIMB Rocks !
To keep the record straight, i didnt get drunk at l-square.
keep mugging. all ye cat aspirants

Well said Vibhavan, we all know why rajeev was busy that night.
Anyway, some more updates from the world of IIMB:
Had my first financial accounting class today. Sigh...i swear i got stomach cramps. Didnt understand one bit,and before each class of accounts, we gotta read an entire chapter, do some problems, write an assignment and sometimes prepare for a case study. All that is for one class of one subject. :-O .
I guess thats when it hits u that u shud have prolly done a 3 year bcom course and come in rather than spend 4 years on satellites and transistors :-P. Anyway, i've been assured by my seniors that i will survive the course, and so will many others because of the fact that, 151 out of 180 students are engineers!. I didnt check my mail for a lil over 24 hours, and i got almost 35 mails on the intranet! Thats the main source of communication here, everyone ranging from student clubs to the faculty send u email regarding the next days work/appointments.
Drat,i gotta run now, will tell more later. Cya guys, bye!

Garuda
Ooooooh . ..... IM BACK !!!
the fog has lifted ......
the earth has shifted ......
erase the gifted ......
blah blah blah .....
Im feeling free after a long time . No exaggeration , but the 1st week was a straight glimpse into what HELL would be like . In the 1st week , I slept exactly 2hrs a day .... for 6 days . But you know what ... i LOVED EVERY WAKING MINUTE !!!!!!
Im into the 2nd week now . Classes have started and they are sooo booooring , except for the quanty subjects like stats and finacc ( thats statistics ans financial accounting for the uninitiaited
) . Some profs are amazing , but some are just plain dumb . It makes you think how the hell they got a job hjere in the first place ... leave alone hold onto it .
Ive made loads of friends . All amazing guys , each one more qualified than the other , each a "STUD" in his own right . We've got guys who oplay Football , BB , TT , tsepak , cricket , comp games and still have a DML
( thats a directors merit list ) .
Guys , take my advice . Even if you have no other choice than to lose a year of your social life to get into an IIM , DO IT . Coz ive been her 10 adys , and already I feel like these are the best adys of my life . Insti , hostel , friends , seniors , hooshing , bracket , SPIDI . If you wanna know more abt them , get here next year .
Nikhil
Insti , hostel , friends , seniors , hooshing , bracket , SPIDI .
Nikhil
Yes yes .... For the info, Nikhil is in the Official Hoosh brigade of our batch ,
Hooshing -> Giving Bumps for the uniniatated ... and ppl get hooshed at the drop of hat here
Mihir
PS: me looking forward for 14th july ....
ask Nikhil for why
