this is my first post to pg.i got into bimtech .i wanna know about the hostel facilities and specially abt the paraphernalias i need to carry.also about a laptop the configuration .plz help.which is better - buying laptop from kolkata or to buy it from delhi or so.

so far the hostel facilities are concerned check out the site for bimtech thats "bimtech.ac.in".and for ur 2nd qs, i think u havent got ur hostel allotment letter.well as far the letter goes beside carrying all ur necessary things u need to carry
1)a rain coat
2)an umbrella
3)a quilt or 2 blankets
4)a track suit
5)2 bed sheets
6)1 pillow
7)2 pillow covers
so far the laptop is concerned only a senior can advice!
so thats it

i think the seniors are busy with their exams. As far as buying a pc or laptop is concerned i think we should let a senior advice us. First we should know for certain if it is ESSENTIAL or just something extra. Either ways it would be much cheaper to buy together, what say ppl ?? i think when we all join we can discuss this thing with our other batch mates and then go and place a group order. even if u want to get on ur own, if u have ur own pc or lappy which u wish to bring then thats great, but if u wanna purchase a new machine, i think nehru place is delhi (which is a big wholesale market) is the place to go.

Hi Ashwin,
I am also going for Educational Loan thru BIMTECH. When I spoke to them this is what I came to know:
On application to BIMTECH, they will issue a certificate stating that you have got an admission in BIMTECh and hence eligible for a loan.
With this certificate and a photocopy of your admission letter you will approach VIJAYA BANK, Cannaught Place, New Delhi for the loan. (They may at their discretion ask for any other documents for the loan.)
They will then process the loan. This may take around 21 days for completion of formalites.
I hope this clarifies your query. Do apply to BIMTECH for that certificate

I am fine thankyou. I am basically from Kolkata too. (Tollygunje). I am coming on the 15th. Coz i will be leaving mumbai (presently working here) on 14th morning.
