Life at Stanford GSB

senapati Says
Guys, logged into PG and finding hosts of interview threads for different b-schools. Any GSB interview invites for anyone?

Senapati,
I havent heard of any invites anywhere on cyberspace.
Dont gimme a shock saying GSB's started rolling out invites. The AdComm folks havent even started reading my app as yet :wow:

Iday

A desi classmate based here (i.e. Silicon valley) did mention that a couple of acquaintances has got invites. A friend of mine in Africa got invite as well but his situation is different.
(We in fact helped each other on apping last year, but due to personal problem he did not apply last year. Of course since he has an admit at IMD-January starting as well, he wanted a quick decision and I being here sort of conveyed his request to the admissions office.

Apart from the above I have not heard of any invites.
Needless to say all the above people applied in R1.

World MBA tour@Orlando

A few weeks back yours truly was in Orlando,FL for the World MBA tour. Since only people with invites can attend, there's less crowd and more networking opportunities. It's really helpful for those looking for non-US jobs.

It was a great experience and my interview there went quite well. Also the networking was unbelievable, you make friendships to so many people and then you keep in touch with them, could be really helpful later on, you never know.

PS: I have been dubbed the "serial conferencer" by a witty classmate (since I've been attending conferences, grades are sorta OK to get by, not great). Me thinks I need to head to library.

Senapati,
Thanks for the wishes

Sorry for diverting yor traffic away but those of you'll interested in applying to Stanford do take a look here as well.

Senapati,

I have been invited to interview with Stanford. I'm excited but guarded about celebrating too early. Stanford is my dream school and I'm still praying that I make it through. Any tips for the interview?

Dude, c'mon..some more insights about life @ the gsb are in order

Best of luck for interview Saturnring. From what I heard GSB interview does not really matter much as compared to other schools. The fact that you got the invite means your chances are pretty good (unless you're one of those 'dead-meats')

Best of luck

I thought Stanford only interviews people it doesn't consider as "Dead Meat."

Are you saying that certain people are considered unfit for admission even before the interview feedback from the Alumnus?

Congratulations!!!! Best of luck for your interview!!!

Where are you located? In it a HUB or Alumni interview?

Stanford doesn't do hub interviews. It is with an alumnus in the Bay Area. I'm located in the Bay Area, California.

BW forums were right on this then. West Coast started getting invites b4 halloween. Senapati, any inputs when INTL invites start rolling out, so that I can stop hitting F5 on my keyboard and get rest till then!!! :)

Should get them before 3rd week of December. If not got invite even then then it might indicate a ding. Know it hard but you must be patient. Do remember GSB starts later than other schools so....

Hey,

would you have the time to reply to specific questions bout GSB to individuals

me

Good day Everyone,

As many of you would know I am a class of 2008 MBA student at The Stanford Graduate School of Business (I'll refer as GSB from now on).
I have been requested by a few PGites to start a thread about my day to day life and varied experiences at GSB.

I have never done such a thing online before. Nevertheless, I do keep a personal diary and pen down my thoughts/experiences, a few of which I'll put down here.

If any of you like me to change this format just post back on thread.

PS: I realize that I'm two days late already, but better late than never.:)

an update is long overdue senapati... plz do the honors!!!

Senapati,

I'm writing to you seeking your opinion and advice. I've been waitlisted after R1 decisions at Stanford GSB and am looking for advice on how to move from being Waitlisted to being Admitted.

I live in the local area (Sunnyvale) and my wife works here too. The choice I have is either get into Stanford or give up my Mba dream. I'd be obliged if you could give me some information about people in your class who have made it off the waitlist. Any information on strategies they used would be helpful.

Your help would be much appreciated. You can PM me a reply since your inbox is full...
