The below will assuage a lot of your queries with regards to the KPO program
Aim: The aim of the program is a to attract bright young graduates to the organization and through a series of classroom, on the job training and actual job develop a cadre of professionals who are ready to take on the role of branch Manager/ other team manager profiles in 5 to 6 years.
How: After the 09 month classroom training and 03 month of OJT in one of the branches across the country, the person is absorbed in one of the following roles ie Branch Sales/ relationship Management/ Credit/ operations/ Trade/ Internal Audit/ Corporate banking etc. Once the roles is assigned, the individual is expected to work in the same role for minimum two years before graduating in the next role. In the first six years basis the performance and potential of the employee, he / she will work in at least two / three roles before taking up the position of the branch manager/ team manager.
Roles: What role do you get is purely decided by the organization and is based on your performance during the 09 month program , your overall profile and value alignment to the organization and role availability at that stage. Eg We have had 05 batches who have passed out till now from the campus which totals to around 400 students. For the first three batches the only roles that were being offered were branch level sales roles( designated as Relationship Officer, where you are based out of branch and are expected to acquire new business for the bank and also deepen the existing relationship. From batch 4 and 5 we have started offered alternate roles also in Operations/ Credit/ Internal audit/ International postings. Eg batch 5 has a total of 100 students out of which around 14 have joined operations, 07 people have joined credit, 05 people have joined car finance sales and the remaining 70 odd have been offered the role of an relationship Officer.
Our expectations from Trainee Officers: Be very clear that place of posting and role being assigned to are based on organizational requirement and one needs to be open on that. The only way a trainee officer can influence these two is by performing exceptionally well during the 09 month program so that he/ she can have a choice. Secondly, an open mind to sales/ relationship roles. We believe that a two year stint in sales and relationship is very important for an employee as she/ she grows in the organization. So, in case you are totally averse to Sales/ relationship roles and have locational constraint , would suggest that either you do not apply or be in top 10% of the batch J. Please note that banking has evolved over last few years. Earlier, it was the customer which used to go to the bank(I am sure that you will agree that a lot of PSU banks operate this way), but today it is the bank that has to go to the customer, coz that is how you make a mark by differentiating on customer service. So, we have to act accordingly €Ś €Ś.
Lastly, an open mind and positive attitude towards learning by doing will help you settle better in the program.
Targets: be it any role that you get into( Sales/ operations /credit) , target would be there. In Sales it would be go acquire new customers, in credit it will be ensuring credit quality and in ops it will be no of transactions. Since it will be first job for most of you, targets are introduced gradually. Eg in the 03 month training there is no target. Once you join your job the targets are introduced gradually over a 05 month period( 25%,50%,75% and so on). So invariably , a person gets around 08 months after course completion to start performing.
Compensation: For those of you who take a loan from bank, your net salary will be around 19-20 k per month after deductions. For those to self-fund it will be around 27k. Incentives which you earn are over and above your salary( incentives are only for sales roles though). For more details on compensation, please refer to the prospectus.
