Read the debreifs of my batchmates {3 of the senior members at Pg and all 3 of em in top 10 US b-schools}, their experiences inspired me to think beyond IIMs {am not arindham chaudhary from ****}:w00t:
gave my GMAT on dec-4 ..got 740 --q50, v 41 --score is well balanced and AWA result awaited....

hey .. i got 730 in gmat .. But as far as i saw all the top schools in the u,s, cost 80 lakhs for two years... moderate bschools after the 25th rank alone cost 40 lakhs.. considering i cant spend 80 lakhs.. what other options are available?i also carry 3 yrs work ex and a nice profile ( decent i wuld say)
Nice job with the GMAT!! 730 makes you competitive for almost all the b-schools.
If you think it would not be possible for yout to shell out 80 lacs or so then explore the following colleges:
1. NUS siNGAPORE: Will cost you less than ISB hyderabad--> excellent ROI and all big consulting and fin companies recruit here....only 150 seats so a bit tought to crack...
2. IE Spain -- has been rising fast on ranking charts....ranks next to LBS, INSEAD And IESE in europe...will cost you less than 40 lacs and curriculum is only 14 months long....so your payback starts early...
3. ISB Hyderabad -- if you want to be in India then probably one of the best b school around and affordable tooo
4. Great Lakes---again the child of Balachandran---man who craeted ISB --- will cost you approx 10 lacs...and will rise on ranking charts pretty sooon
5. CEIBS China --affordable and good ROI---only concern --are you willing to study and saty in China??
6. Oxford SAID London -- ONE OF THE BEST --low cost high return-- short term course but your work ex is way below median and mean ...but if you have got some quality stuff to show then you can try...
7.IIM A, B And C exec prog --- again requires atleast 5 yrs of work ex....
8. Asian Institue of Management Manila --- dirt cheap as compared to US schools and has got good reputation in Asia...
there are many other colleges and courses i n US too that are affordable and tailor made...cornells 1 year course is cheap {monetarily} and great at the same time

I am working in a software firm for the past 2 years and planning to do MBA from some good foreign B-School which gives good ROI. I need some info abt the placement scenario in Singapore ( avg package n all). Also, I am looking forward to do 1year MBA. What would u suggest?
Hi..i would request you to go to NUS singapore site and download the placement report...i dont have the numbers handy....from what i have heard from my friends..NUS singy offers a good ROI and very good prospects in Asia....Just checkout I.E Spain...offers a very good 1 year MBA {placements have been fab despite of the economic downturn...avg salary close to 100k$ and 90% of class placed within 3 months of graduation....} and so does INSEAD {Highly competitive though...}cornell in US also offers one year course that is very good for career in quantative analysis domain...
All those who are prepping for GMAT...use 700-800 doc for SC, CR and RC...its extremely useful...has detailed explanations and quality questions ... {*its a compilation of Manhttan 700+ level questions -- so you dont have to worry about the reliability of source}...

Congrats on ur 740...
I wrote my GMAT today n scored a bismal 620(44QA, 33-VA)... had been scoring above 48 in QA in all the mocks but culd finish the test so i guess had to pay the penalty. N my QA screwed up my VA. I am totally petrified of examinations and since GMAT puts so much stress due to the whole timing shit which is my biggest prob, I am very confused how to work around it.
I wanted to apply in Jan but i guess i wnt be able to make the deadline.
anyhow how and what material should I practice from, n hw much time do u think should i prepare for before I take the test again.

@ansh...really sorry to hear that you could not perform upto the mark...it happens...before i tell you about any material i need to know your exact weak points...whether its PS or DS thats hurting you and exactly which topics you are not comfortable with....the same goes for verbal...

there are many good colleges in canada but they will cot you as much as a US college does....Queen's university offers a one year course...is highly ranked too {#1 in businessweek 2007 rankings} ... will cost you approx 60 lacs .. placements are good...but mostly limited to canada...
will share one e-book called MBA game plan with you...there you can find profiles of all the top b-schools....

Hi Alisameer...GMAT is very different from CAT .. i apeared for CAT in my final year and got 98+ and like you got screwed up in verbal...
If you are good in CAT quant then things will be easy for you...You will have to put majority of your time on Verbal {SC, CR and RC}...and approx 25% of your time on DS ... {GMAT problem solving is very easy}...
dOWNLOAD gmat prep software from mba.com ... take a mock test ... analyze it in detail... if you need help then you can share your results with me via pm {or let me know if you want to talk...} ... once we know your weaknesses we can chart out a prep plan that might be 6-12 weeks long {depending upon your mock score and target score and level of prep }....
You can use Manhattan Mateial for SC -- Its the bible ...
Then apply the concepts on OG problems {og 10 and 12 ... }
buy manhattan mock CATS...{6 of em and practise em and read the explanantions in detail....}
for CR --> practise using LSAT material ..{can use powerscore bible if you have ample time...}
RC -- Daily spend 30 mins on either Economist.com or Newscientist.com ...
dont just skim...read and comprehend ... thats wat RC tst --THE COMPREHENSION NOT JUST SKIMMING SPEED...
DS -- solve 20 ques daily on either pAGALGUY OR Beatthegmat.com
