Block welfare officer: pros:
most respected job
poor people/villagers will give you warm regards
self satisfaction in this job is comparable to administrative posts,
decent salary (around 31k in hand right now, will be around 36-37 after 7th pay implementation),
you will be solely responsible in implementing all welfare schemes in the particular block
good scope of money other than salary (if you know what i mean), but be careful even you are caught single time ,your entire career will be over.
Preparing database of all schemes(before and after implementation) with the help of head clerk and get it ready to represent at collectorate level in the monthly/quarterly meeting with BDO/Collector/Dm/Dc/dwo
Most of the times you have to visit different villages to monitor the ongoing implementation/ or even survey or for report, so lots of field duty, no worries for petrol bill it will be reimbursed
lots of tender work to be done by block welfare officer(here comes the other than options.......)
Cons: if you are slightly lazy in implementing schemes like mnrega, iay,etc in your block , then be ready to get suspended or work without pay
very poor promotion policy, atleast 12-14 years for 1st promotion to become district welfare officer
