1. Strategy for CET: Speed with accuracy (remember speed is very important). maximize attempt. Full concentration for 2.30 hrs is very important. Visual reasoning was on tougher side last year... so i chose not to solve most of them but maintained my accuracy in other questions. Selection of questions is very important in all competitive exams.
2. Study time: I had prepared for CAT so it was not difficult for CET. Just the difference was more number of questions so practice is name of the game.
3. Comparison of Bschools is not allowed on PG... but let me tell you that the question u asked was not even in my mind.. my preference was in the order mentioned in my signature. and i am very happy with my decision.

Hi Andy....

what was cutoff last year for the All India candidates.I mean out of 240 ( including GD/PI).Do we need to go for any further GD / PI for specific colleges under the CET or is jst once common for all colleges falling under CET.

hi andy,

Can we write CET in Bangalore also or do we have to travel to Mumbai ??

Hi pipin,
CET is having test ceters across the country...............bangalore is one of them...

hi,

Can I not apply to JBIMS with my CAT/XAT scores? Do I need to write the CET for this? Sorry..for the question but I am not aware about the selection proces for JBIMS. Your reply would be highly appreciated..thnx

you can submit ur cat/xat score... bu there is no conversion factor... if u have scored 95%ile in cat/xat it will be considered as 95%ile only... where as one need to have close to 99.99 %ile for JB... so it makes sense to appear for CET

Test centres are present across India.. no need to travel to mumbai for that.

All scores (CAT/XAT/MAT) are considered at same level. You can apply using your all india score as well as u can take CET. Best score will be considered for admission.

one can apply with any of the scores among CAT/XAT/MAT/ATMA/JMET/CET (ur best score will b considered) ,but for getting into JBIMS one need a score of 99.99 odd %tile so it is obvious tht scoring 99.99odd %tile in MAT/ATMA/CET is easier than scoring in XAT/CAT......about further selection process u have to appear for GDΠ n then on the basis of a combined merit list colleges will b alloted to u....... break-up of weightage for written/gd/pi/academics/work-ex is 200/17/17/4/2 in same sequence

last year cutt-off was 189 marks for ALL INDIA CATEGORY........but it varies every year, for example in year 2007 it was 175 ,so don't follow last year trends it will give u just a vague picture ....abt ur second query- u don't need to appear for any other college specific GDΠ

till wat percentiles calls given by jbims??or is it de final percentile which gets u de admission..
secondly if i use my cat/xat scores will i have to sit for a gd/pi??

JBIMS DOESN'T HAVE ANY CALL SYSTEM.........WHOEVER IS APPLYING FOR CET IS ELIGBLE FOR JBIMS ADMISSION BUT ONLY TOP120 STUDENTS GETS ADMISSION ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN CATEGORY

Dude JB is pegged with IIM-K and FMS for placements, with alumni literally ruling corporate India. So IMHO,the comparison that you just made is surprising to say the least.

Another thing is that there are a lot of colleges that take CAT scores and are converted by people in the 95-98%ile range. Now junta might think that this is the juuuussst below IIM kinda CAT performance, and hence the colleges they enter are, well, the best possible options after IIMs/XL/FMS.But take my word for it:getting a 99.99 in an exam called MAT or 99.9+ in CET is not exactly a piece of cake. And my batch is full of people who had their 98.5+ CAT scores, but just scraped through JB.

Though we have a lot of constraints because of being a university department,we manage big time placements. The only deal is that we do not have:

1.A huge privately funded campus with lawns, outdoor sports etc.
2.An independent form that sells at every coaching institute, full with colorful pics of the college.
3.Affiliation with CAAATTTT,the biiiigggg exam.
4.Huge points on infra and other stuff to push us in the top 5 in rankings.

What we do have is:
1.Some faculty that many of my friends in top IIMs aspire to learn from.Trust me.
2.A brand name that gets anyone and I mean anyone placed well, even in today's market turmoil.
3.A practical industry interaction that takes you to a different level altogether.
4.Two years of life in South Bombay, theee place in India :)

Now take your pick....

Hey Seniors
Thanks for the thread, was looking for a similar thread for my queries...So here we go
I am planning to apply to JBIMS through MAT route. So my question is are we still supposed to fill Mah-CET form,or is it something like some different form of JB ,for those who wanna route through other exams(read MAT/XAT/CAT).

And even if it is that we are supposed to fill Mah CET(I am assuming that in that form we will specify which scores to consider),would it be required to appear for Mah CET.I mean filling the Mah CET form, skipping CET but applying with MAT score. Is this case possible??Please shed some light on this.

yupp......one have to fill CET form but u don't need to fill any college form separately .....the steps for applying for CET & JBIMS is same.....u have 2 follow these steps

1-fill CET form online
2-fill option of applying through ALL INDIA SEATS n mention MAT/ATMA/CAT/XAT/JMET as OTHER
EXAM applying for
3-appear for CET n OTHER EXAMS
4-appear in GDΠ of CET
5-verification of documents
6-filling your college choices
7- allotment of college
in the end one can skip CET if he/she is applying thorough other exams but still GDΠ r compulsory
