ISB 2017 Aspirants

Can I appear for GMAT on 2nd Jan'16 ,keeping in mind the deadline for cycle 2 of ISB is 15th Jan'15?

Friends, any idea when are more calls expected to those whose preferred location is Hyderabad?

Another couple of weeks for the round 1 admission results....jittery is the only word to describe my feelings right now...

Maybe ISB found so many good candidates in other cities that they decided to skip Kolkata candidates altogether 😁

Just a theory........

Done with the interview....!!! I was the first candidate for panel-9 (3 guys, 2 alums and 1 adcom member i guess). It was a very straightforward interview with absolutely no cross questioning. As soon as we shook hands and sat down they asked me why do you want to join ISB ( I started with why MBA and finished with Why ISB). 1 of them loved my answer..I could tell that from his face...Other 2 gave no reactions. Then they asked about an initiative that i have been associated with for past 8 years..how did this idea emerge..?? Then they asked me how do I plan to take this initiative to all India level (I was not prepared for this but managed to give a decent answer). Further they asked me about my job responsibilities. Upon answering one of the guys asked me to go in more details and describe a typical day at work (Although I answered this, feel I could have done better here) Then they asked me about one of the incidents that my recommender had mentioned in his letter. I did justice to this question. Took this opportunity to display my leadership qualities. Finally they asked me if i had any questions and it ended nice smooth. I was fortunate to have got a nice panel and straight interview for about 25 minutes but some guys also had a stress interview of about 40-45 minutes.

😄 Finally, got my interview call, 9th Dec Mohali. Re-applicant at ISB, also interviewed with IIMB and MIT Sloan. Admit IIMB. Hoping for a Hat trick👍

Guys , there are still few applications to be evaluated...so don't lose hope. Its not over till its over.

(how i know this, i just evaluated few ;))

Is there anyone who can put a rough number to the total people that were/will be called for ISB interviews of round-1. Just asking this to have a brief idea about what the conversion ratio will be like.

Interview started some 10 minutes late but it was all fine. There were three panelists. One was Atul sir. There were just two panelists questioning me. The third one wasn't even in the frame. He just popped in when the interview was ending. I'll just address them as P1, P2 and P3 henceforth.

P1 : Tell us about the latest project that you are working on.

P2 : What all challenges do you face in your work?

P2 : Your first essay talks about the Derivatives Trading. What was the project all about?

P2 : Tell us about your strengths. Tell us about one instance when you displayed analytical abilities.

P3 : One question about my hobby.

P1 : Any questions for us. I asked about ELP and FIRP. P1 and P2 answered for a few minutes.

And that's it. It was over just like that. I didn't get that vibe from the panel that interview went very well. Neither am I very satisfied. Not sure if I'll make the cut. Could have done a lot better. Anyhoo, come the 15th and I'll know. All the very best everyone!

Hi all,

Done with my interview. I work for the state Government in the construction development side. All i can say about the interview was disastrous. They asked me only 1 question on "Why MBA". Since i am only involved in the technical side and would rather be doing same thing for my whole stay at my organization, i said i want to gain management perspective for sustainable career growth. when they asked me clearly state what aspects are you looking forward to gain from ISB, I said them that i want to gain knowledge on the procurement, profit margins, supply chain etc. The panel was outright said that i may not learn the things that i am looking for and even said post MBA i would be doing the same job. When i said i am involved in the technical design of components, the panel was saying that designs are also management and i am pretty much doing the management thing.. I am very much puzzled how can designs of structures be called management. The panel was saying that I am confused. Not a single other question was asked and WHY MBA continued for almost 15 minutes. I pretty much feel that why call for an interview and completely degrade the morale.

No Kolkata calls yet....apparently the great Bengal famine is upon us again.....

Is it common to feel like you couldve done better at the interview, AFTER it is over? All that nervousness actually hinders a persons ability to think and convey cleanly when facing the panel...

Had my interview yesterday and on hindsight i am getting that feeling. How many others in the same boat?

Just spoke to the adcom and the update for Kolkata interviews is:

The date has been postponed from 5-6th Dec to around 10th Dec. As for the interview invites she said today/tomorrow. But she didn't sound too convincing.

The wait is killing..

Any chance of more Delhi calls? Or is it just Kolkata now?

I had my interview yesterday at Mumbai that lasted for only 20 mins, however those were pleasant 20 mins. We started on a very light note, the panel (2 Alums and an AdCom member) was very friendly and smiled/nodded to my responses all along. Not even once did I feel I was giving an interview, it was more of a discussion. Just one expected question was asked - Why MBA? Other than that we mostly talked about the Service Industry. Towards the end, the AdCom member asked one question about my involvement in the community initiatives. And thats all.

Now I really don't know what to make of it. Either they were not interested in my profile only and wanted to get over with it or they were too impressed (chances of it being the former are more ). Let's hope for the best.
