Does ISB review a candiate's application with his/her own peer group.

If someone is working in 'X' industry will he/she be compared with those applying from that industry/role profile.

If that is not the case, then how is the modulation done for comparison amongst unequals. @Llewellyn75 @mba-help

Hi Everyone,

I have taken my GMAT test 2 days back and want to apply for ISB and IIMs. Please evaluate my profile and give your valuable suggestions

GMAT: 700 (Q50 V35)

10th:  91%

12th:  94%

BTech: 7.0 CGPA from NIT, Warangal (Computer Science & Engineering)

Work experience: 7 years in DRDO as SCIENTIST (Central Govt)

2. Lab level badminton and TT player

3. Executive member of NSTL Seva samiti. (NGO)

4. Electronic gadget enthusiastic.

5. Participated in Cultural fests and Tech fests in NITW as Event manager.

6. Member of "Cyber security committee" in DRDO.

7. A budding guitarist (Just started learning :P)

8. National Cadet Corps (NSS) 'A' certificate holder and participated in summer camp at Warangal.

Awards & achievements:

1. Awarded "Titanium medal" for a technical paper on National Technology day. (DRDO national level).

2. Got outstanding promotion (3 years) for exceptional technical services as Scientist-B.

3. Stood in the TOP 0.2% in the AIEEE-2004 (All India Engineering Entrance Examination)

My Work Profile:

I joined DRDO as a Scientist B on 4th Dec, 2008.Since then I have been working in the field of Control & Guidance systems for Autonomous underwater vehicles. My work is more of a classified type. So here I will explain as much as I am allowed to.

1.  I have been involved in design and development of Guidance system for underwater systems. I have developed software programs to conduct Hardware In-Loop Simulation for underwater vehicles

2. I have developed a modern guidance algorithm in association with IISc, Banglore. All the modeling and simulation to prove the algorithms were carried out using Matlab/Simulink.

3. I have carried out pre and post sea trial data analysis of various underwater vehicles and implemented the subsequent modifications in guidance laws as and when required.

4. Developed GUI based test software to conduct acceptance tests on sensors using VC++.

5. Implemented embedded coding on some latest miniaturized boards like LPC 1768.

As I was working in an R&D organization, I have a little scope to manage people. I am leading a team of 2 Technical officers presently.  I had the privilege to interact with many foreign technicians at the time of product installation and training sessions.

I have two main queries:

1. Is my GMAT score competitive enough to apply for ISB or IIMs? Or it is better to re-take the GMAT.

2. Can my confidential work become a problem while I prepare my application? (This is a more specific question- If any DRDO people who applied for Bschool, please respond).

Thanks in advance.
