ISB 2017 Aspirants

My application status is still 'submitted online'. I submitted on 15th Oct. I don't know if this is a problem but it is scary because 2 weeks finish today. Anybody else has the same status?

Any informed soul has any idea how many people apply to ISB in both rounds and approx how many people are called for interviews. This data is present for almsot all top B-schools but couldn't find it for ISB.

Hi Guys,

I have opted for Mumbai as interview location preference. Did anybody got interview call for Mumbai location ? My status is still "Application submitted online".

Anyone else has their application status ' completed' ?

Applicants asking about calls for Delhi, Mumbai and other locations - please note that regular calls haven't started yet (based on our set of applicants). Only Early Decision Category calls being given out. A few Early Decision Category calls rolled out today as well.

I submitted my application on 6th Oct . Almost everyone who r in this forum have mentioned there submission  dates later than mine . @ISBmantra.com does ISB keep the status of applications with less preference unchanged till the very end or could it happen like someone might not get a call even after having his status changed very early ? Is there a correlation between the two ?

Any PGPPro Applicants who strayed onto this thread please let me know

@Isbmantra.com What common characteristics do you find among all the Early Decision category invites?

Anyone got a call for Mumbai interviews?

P.S: I haven't. Just checking

Here is a debrief of one of our candidates who got interviewed recently:

Interview Date: 22nd October 2016

Mode: In-person

One word before the interview: Tensed

GMAT Score: 690

BTech; MBA in marketing; Current Job – SAP Consultant; Total years of experience – 4.5 years

3 Interviewers – 2 Alumni & 1 from the ISB administration

Qn1: We have gone through your profile. Let us directly address the elephant in the room. Why 2nd MBA?

Ans1: I had done my earlier MBA without any work experience and the purpose of that MBA was to get into business related roles, which I did. I have got results that I wanted from the 1st MBA. However a lot has changed in the last 5 years, After working in IT consulting for last 2 years, I now want to move into a bigger consulting role. In a consulting role, I think it is necessary to look at a business problem from different perspectives and to come up with an innovative solutions. In a school like ISB where students come from diverse backgrounds and with diverse work experience, I will get an opportunity to develop this different perspective and with the global curriculum that ISB offers, I will develop a global view and approach that I think is very important.

Followup Qn: Things will always keep on changing, I have done my MBA 7 years back, so you mean to say, I will need another MBA?

Ans: Yes. I agree. Things will keep changing. We will always come up with innovative ways of doing business and we need to keep ourselves updated, MBA is just one way of doing that. I currently keep myself updated, with the latest technologies by doing certain certifications. But to move to a consulting career and to work with companies like Bain & AT Kearny, I think an MBA at this point of time FOR ME is very much necessary.

Qn2: I think you want to do an MBA from ISB just for a better job and a better salary.

Ans2: No. That’s not the case. My focus has always been to acquire the skills required for business. First 2 years of my career were in banking industry were I understood the nuances of sales and I got an experience of handling a team and I had a good career progression. But because my long term goal was to get into consulting, I made a switch to IT consulting. I would not have made this switch if I was merely looking for a salary increase. The same is the case with doing an MBA now. The idea is to acquire skills necessary for my career in consulting.

Qn3: Because you already have an MBA, and worked in the wealth management sector, I want you to come with the total wealth management market in India and the players and the market sectors. You can use the white board.

Ans: Came with a number. (Was stopped in between and asked several questions)

Qn4: What would you do in the next 1 year in ISB to get close to your goal of consulting

Ans: I would make complete use of clubs like Consulting club and Business technology clubs. I would also try to gain from the unique ELP program offered by ISB.

Qn5: Do you have any questions for us.

Ans: No. Thank you for the opportunity.

1 member of the panel was very aggressive, who rebutted almost every point made by me. The 2nd Alumni was very calm, and would listen to every point and nod in agreement. So I think it was basically a good cop bad cap approach. The third member was a silent observer.

Application submitted - 15th Oct. Evaluation Submitted - 12th October

Still 'Application Submitted Online'. Been more than 2 weeks. The negativity is creeping in.

A few of our Mumbai candidates received interview calls today. Do check your status online if Mumbai was your preferred interview location. This is just the first blast though. Mumbai calls should keep coming for a few more days ideally.
