All,
I had been regular memeber of thread "PGPX interviews and Beyond" by DDESI. The thread was very useful in brining focus to interview process, which is one stepp beyond focusing on application process.
I thought a similar thread will be useful for ISB 2007 interviews, where we can discuss about interview process. i.e. components of interviews, interview dates, previous year interview experiences etc..
Any ISB queries still you can post on thread "Aiming for ISB" by ajay_jewalikar.
To start with, following are the FAQ on interview from ISB site
D) Interviews
1) How many applicants are called for interview in Round-1 & Round-2 and how many selected?
There is no fixed percentage of students being called by the ISB either for interviews or for admission.
2) Do you have a GD/ personal interview as part of the admission criteria?
As a part of the admission process, all shortlisted candidates will be interviewed, there is no group discussion.
3) What will be the mode of my interview if I am overseas at the time of interview?
You will be interviewed over telephone. You have to call the telephone number given in the interview mail sent to you.
4) Do you have a pre-determined number for short list?
No, we do not have a pre-determined number that we shortlist. The number varies depending on the quality of the applications we receive each year.
5) How will I be interviewed, if I am not living in India?
ISB welcomes you to visit the campus and be interviewed at ISB. However, if you cannot travel to India, it could be a telephonic interview. ISB will ask for your preference in the application form.
Please note that International applicants may apply from July1 - January 31, 2007.
I remeber reading somewhere that selection to an Interview will be notified two/three weeks prior to the interview.
Hey Neo
I am also a R1 applicant.
I was in fact thinking of about starting this kinda thread having followed the success of "PGPX - Interviews and Beyond" thread. You beat me on that.
ISB webiste says that interview mailers will go out only 1 week prior to the interview date.
What's your profile?
Mine:
GMAT - 710 (51Q ,35V, 4.5 AWA)
Work ex - IT 10 yrs (7+ international, 4+ managerial) 😃

This thread will surely help.
I am also an R1 applicant from Bangalore.
Here are pagal guy links for previous interviews. The interview experiences don't seem to be much different from IIMA experiences.

People,
Great post this here! Way to go.
Ive applied for R1. Was wondering if we could discuss those really irritating questions that crop up during the interview a la 'how many coconuts were sold in the first quarter of this year in kerala' or 'how many tender coconuts priced at 6 Rs. were sold on the road to T Nagar in the last 10 years' or even 'how many deaths are caused a year by coconuts falling on people's heads'. And yes I am a Mallu, so I've gone a lil overboard with the coconuts, but you get the picture.
I will be having an offsite interview since im not in india right now or any time soon, but i still cant help feeling that the adcom is focusing their combined energies on my application. Watch this space for the Indian chainsaw massacre ! :bomb:

I guess questions test your ability to break down bigger problems into smaller one and then finding solution to it.
Though you dont need to come up with the answer, yes you can surely come up with an answer.
@jomyjohnjohn
in asking such questions, the interviewer is not looking for the correct answer..rather no one knows the correct answer . they are only checking analytical skills and try to gauge thinking process when one is confronted with a problem..thats it !
