Hi Ppl,
i am currently doing my Masters in Computer Science at Univ of oxford and I have an offer in the investment banks: Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas and pending offer from JP Morgan

But I have job in the tech sector.......I want to do a MBA from atop US college like Harvard/ Stanfy...actually I want to go to Harvard B School....I have a deep liking for it and the case study method of teaching , the name, infact everything.

I think being in Oxford will give me an advantage and then working for a big shot investment bank.

I plan to work for 2 years and then do my MBA in finance.

Is my plan of action correct.....I would try to sift to trading in the job but it is pretty difficult and don't know if my wrking in the tech sector ( i will be developing trading platforms) will be of any use when i apply......I somehow feel it is very irrelevent....

I am also interested in the IIMA 1 year program.... which one seems beneficial ..the Harvard one or the IIMA one

Eventually I would want to settle in own mother land ...say 7- 10 years from now

I need advice on what i should I do in next 2-3 years ...by the way i willbe working in London

I think you should post this in the GMAT section. You find Harvard specialists there..

Great credentials there, but I think you need to start working first. I dont think joining a business school can be a goal - for which you structure your career accordingly. Mostly because there is no specific area of work that a business school like Harvard will be looking at.

So get into a job you can do extremely good at, show the results, show the learnings in your essays and that should be what is required for getting into a great b-school. It would better to chose a career which you like and can make a difference in, rather than a career that just 'sounds good' and you arent able to make any measurable impact.

Cheerios,

Thank you for your replies...... That is what i want.....I want people to critically examine my stand.... thanks pagalguy ... I really appreciate your opinion
