Hi Guys,
The new kid on the block here. I passed out of IIT Bombay in 2010 and am currently employed as a analyst at a I-bank. I cleared CAT while in final year of my college , but ditched IIMs to take up the bank job as it payed well and I thought I would enjoy the break from academic life. Now almost one and a half years later, I have made up my mind to go for a change as the job has become repetitive and boring.
I hope PG would help me find answers to what I should do in the next year, take CAT again and go through the IIM drill or take a year off to prepare for UPSC ( I love to read and write and think that I would like the preparation stage of the UPSC exam- but that's my sole motivation so far) or perhaps just look to switch jobs and then maybe apply for MBA later at a US B-school

Hi,

That hugely depends on ur career plans , financial capabilities , etc .
Indian Exec Mba's (Considering only top 3 IIM's , XLRI , ISB and SP JAIN) :
1) Less costly than Foreign B schools .
2) Very good placements ( 100 percent ) . Indian economy in a very good state .
3) Very tough to get in . A lot of competition . A Gmat score of above 700 in most cases and a very good profile needed .
MBA abroad :
1) More options compared to India .
2) Due to economic crisis not all schools manage 100 percent placements . Thats one thing to be noticed . Many colleges in UK dont provide campus placements and it depends more on networking to get a job . But not true in all cases , if u consider colleges in Asia like NUS. In Asia the economy is still doing well .
3) Costlier than indian counterparts especially the ones in US ( around 100000 $ fees) . But then salaries also are pretty good .
So at the end , its all about what u want . Make ur career goals clear like which sector u want to go for . And prepare well for GMAT . Actually u can apply for both Indian and Foreign schools since both use GMAT . But still research on schools about various aspects and then decide which ones to apply

.P.S. : For getting detailed information about various colleges , search for their admission threads on PG . Ll give u good info about colleges ;);)
