plz suggest me which prep pattern i should follow ,books coaching classes etc........

Hello everyone...i am new to this site... gave CAT for the first time..and have very less idea about it...
I heard scoring (100+)/180 will make you get IIM calls...is it true?

Can anyone please give a rough idea of the respective percentiles that one can expect at different scores? Like...at 60/180, 70/180, 80/180, 90/180 and so on...

let me try my maximum to give you exact scenerio of CAT.

the percentile depends on the score you secure on the scale of 450(scaled scores) not on the scale of 180. you score is initial calculated according to your correct and wrong answer with the marking scheme as +3(right answer) and -1(wrong answer). this is called raw score. this score is scaled according to the difficulty level of your slot.(difficulty level is considered according to the performance of all the test takers in your slot on anchor questions).

the scaled scores are on the scale of 150 in each section. so guessing your %ile according to your number of attempts or by on a scale of 180 would be a foolish thing to do.

you are one of the lucky puys who came to pagalguy on right time. coaching classes depend on your city. each institute will be better in some cities of india. you better consult your seniors in college or others who already joined classes. take ample time from each day for CAT.
dedicate one year for cat. i personally dont suggest you to take CAT course for now because sustaining same zeal would be difficult. from next year(same time) start your prep. the most important part in preparation is mocks. there is no specific pattern for preparation , it depends on you.
as of now concentrate purely on your academics because they also play a role in selection for IIMs. all the best:cheers:

Why on PG? - So many reasons are der, to know abt Bschools, to know abt the xamz, the great pple seen all the forums, to read the inspirin stories of dem etc, etc

Specifically looking for what on PG? The details abt bschools and xamz dey conduct date, pattern, disscussion threads of VA, DI, Quants.

Aim for next one year? To prepare gud for the entrance xam and to giv a shot and to c hw my story goes ;)

I am very much confused whether to go for mba or prepare for civil services.i know general information of both.but my question is that which one is more beneficial for career.ias selecton is difficult than mba.even mba has more salary.so basically and generally what criteria or what things should one consider while selecting ias or mba.what are the pros and cons in both of the fields .moreover how does it affect the selection of ias or mba.

i m presently in my 7th semester of mechanical engineering at Nirma University, institute of science n technology (AHMEDABAD)....hav got placed at TATA TECHNOLOGIES (PUNE)(an offshoot of tata motors- basically a designing firm whose clients include bmw,audi,chrysler,airbus,boeing etc.).i hav givn cat 2010 but half-heartedly as i intend to do my mba wid sm work-ex to get a propr perspective. my dream destination is IIM-A. m new to PG n so m not vry familiar wid d site....in tym will prove to b an active member....i hope to make new friends here along the way 😉
