I am not from finance field,so I can't give you the right advice for your query friend, so I think you better find someone from CFA thread to get help.

Hi everyone,

I JUST WANTED TO inquire if anyone here is applying for os is studying at or passed out from MIT SDM ? I am, so i wanted to discuss a few aspects including what my candidature looks like for SDM. I cant do much to change my credentials but I can try to address the grey areas in my essay try to present everything in the best light possible. I do think i have leadership potential but I don't have tangible details to demonstrate that only intangibles that demonstrate ability but intangibles are so subjective that I feel adcoms can always question whether i really did that.
My credentials are :

GMAT : 720 retaking on 14th July and should be able to improve to 750 at least

GPA : 7.05 / 10.0

Ugrad : IIT Kharagpur

Work ex: 8 yrs intl in Middle East and Europe, with leading Oil and Gas companies. My work has been in design and field engg for Offshore platforms and Pipelines.

Have very recently started an engg company in india along a few others and am getting some very good Clients within India. Also i am along with one very senior guy in the process of publishing a paper on a crucial subject in the industry - corrosion engg and we are in the process of developing a analysis tool for the same but that is still under process, so i dont know how much sense it makes to mention that.

Extra-Curriculars: I was editor of civil engg. journal in college, cricket team member, and a leading organizing member of the Social cultural SpringFest festival at IIT Kharagpur.

Besides this I also worked to guide and teach Masters level intl students in Uk, who didnt have enough support from their univs and also helped students who were struggling with housing and other problems to satrt with on a personal level but then with the Indian association of North East Scotland. this later led to formation of an small ngo to help the Indian students who goto UK to study. But this is intangible and I would need to take a reco from the president of iNDIAN association of North East Scotland to prove that.

Please someone tell me the level of my candidature, and how i could improve it as well as anything else that might be of use, if this is not the right thread, would be helpful if you could direct me to the right one.
