Institute of Actuaries of India-Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET)

@vision2017 you need to pass class 12 or plus II with english as a subject. Your maths percentage or break doesn't matter for getting into actuary.

@Blu_Dragon : Any idea about how have the general passing mark trends been for past few years for CT3 course?
Above 50 is considered good and above 60 is exceptional. So if you are scoring 50, you should clear the paper. But of course this is subjective and depends on the opinion of people work with. Cut off are not disclosed by IAI.
@Blu_Dragon i feel that topper decides the cut off...i mean if the topper is somewhere around 70s ..passing might b 50...but in may 2011 ct3 , no one passed the exam...so commenting on the issue of passing marks is impossible....by the way blue dragon which exam r u taking next..

Guys can anyone just shed some light on UK Actuaries or US Actuaries? Which one is better? Whether it would be worth doing it ?

Frnds.. I am going to appear in Dec ACET this year. I have not prepared much because of lots of office work. Please any buddy tell me question percentage of stats and maths in last ACET exams.

You are absolutely right. We cannot comment on passing percentage. But I believe if you are scoring above 55 in this paper(CT3), you should pass. This is my view only.

I had promised myself that if this paper went well I would appear for 2 papers next. So I would give CT6 and any one of CT2 or CT1. CT6 is a stat paper related to CT3. And CT2 or CT1 is from the view of CFA that I will take in Dec 2013.
This thread is bit silent these days. How is everyone doing? ACET is started i guess. All the best to ACET takers. And to everyone who had taken their papers, what is your next target?
@Blu_Dragon true....silent...everyone is busy with their exams....by the way how were the other exams...??? and also any idea hows ct-7 subject...i m planning to start with that ...but i got NO prior knowledge abt it...any ideas..???

Only 1 exam for me this november i.e CT3 and i am done with it. CT7 is a theoritical exam. My HOD had cleared it and trust me when I say this, his math is really poor. So if you are looking for paper with less maths and bit of essay type question then you have made right choice. I have not seen it in though.

I also have plans for CT7 but in december 2013, provided everything else goes according to plan.

@Blu_Dragon hmmmm....i m still thinking abt it...wht abt u....ur going to take ct-6 next provided the ct-1 goes well....?
@cj1093 @Blu_Dragon : Would it be wise to take CT1 first or CT7 ?

Hi Piyush ,

Go for CT-1 first as it would acts as a confidence booster if u are able to clear in first attempt

@Blu_Dragon ..Hi ,are u working in the insurance industry ?
@spy007 : Hey did you appear for CT1 this session?

Friends...What should be the strategy to solve ACET paper in exam room? Please share your experience. I need reply ASAP. .. :)

1.)U should be familiar with the calculator u are about to use in the exam room .

2.)for 1 & 2 marks questions,dont devote much time as 75-80 % questions can be solved with little thinking .

3.)Avoid wild gusses in five marks questions .

Nopes,i had registered for the same but didnt get enough time to prepare & hence, i skipped the exam . BTW,how was the CT1 paper if u had appeared for the same

@spy007 : I took only CT3, due to work load...dint have much time. How was CT3 for you?
@piyushm807 :: I did not take any exam .
@spy007 Thanks for great suggestions.

Where should I more concentrate in Starts or Maths in exam? I have not covered whole Stats study material. It quite large.
