Hii Bharath, and everyone else here from Infy..

I had asked you a few things about the job letter abt 2 mnths back..I dont think you would remember that,so will explai again. I am from Bhopal. Our Campus was conducted on 16th Jan, 08 and about 28 students were selected from our college. The Infy HR said that ours was the first recruitmnet in 2008.

Now its over 10 months,but we havent got any letter or mail whatsoever from infy. Our seniors got their letters in September last year,and got their joining on 21st Sep I think. What shall we do?? Its already so late,and I know that Infy is a very ethical company,and would certainly make some contact,but its not easy just waiting like this,especially considering the economic scenario now. No other comapnies are expected to visit in the near future for our batch either..And atleast they could have sent some confirmation. Even TCS have already sent a background Check Form,and another such form in this interval..

Can you all help in any way??

I'm sure you would have done your home-work by inquiring from the concerned authorities about the exact details of your situation. Ergo, I'm just going to try to calm some frayed nerves here.

To put things in perspective, my name is Vivek and I have been working in Infosys for 3 years now.

Alright folks, I've had the chance to interact with some senior board members including Mr. NRN, Nandan and other senior members of the board and HR recently, and let me tell you that my confidence in the company increased many fold after the event.

All of you know this and we make no bones of the fact that India is facing slowdown. Business is down and I'm sure all of you accept that. Low business means necessity of fresh talent reduces by that much.:huh:

Having said this, the board members vociferously reiterated their stand on the fresher intake issue. When the specific question was raised, we were categorically told that if a commitment has been made to the college that folks would be picked from the college, it would be done so regardless of the market conditions. And they are working extra hard to ensure this happens ASAP. So know that unlike some other players in the market, your position in the company is safe. It is only a matter of 'when' and the 'when' is soon!

Please note that quite a few of the stories and rumours that you may have heard about the infrastrucutre, ethical quotient and corporate governance of the company are probably true.
I know this post may seem to you as coming from an Infy fanboi, but it helps to know that I was as apprehensive and unsure about the company as you are when I first joined, but it is now my decision to re-join Infy after completing my MBA studies. Such is the trust they have garnered from me.

hi, m abhinav.. i got placed in infy.. but unfortunately have got an arrear in 7th semester... i ll definitely clear the arrear in 8th semester... but the problem is i ll get the results only after the joining date(june 8th 2009) but ma friends will get the results before the joining date... so will i be able to join ma friends or else i ll have to extend the joining date...?? in case of extension, for how many days i have to wait if i get the result some 15 days after the date of joining.?

Infosys freezes placements. so basically, they are just honoring the offers already made, and are no longer making fresh offers.

Also, the followin ques:
1) what is contribution of IT to Indian exports?
2) which IT company has the highest headcount?
3) which IT company has the highest revenue?
4) which IT company has the highest annual turnover?

do they ask branch related questions also(i m from E&Tc;)? or only C/C++ related question? shud i strt preparing for campus now onwards(i hav very little knowledge of C and Brach related paper also)? or 15-30 days wil be enough?

The news is that infy has frozen placements. so i don't think they will hire anymore until the market conditions improve. there are about 20,000 employees to whom infosys had made offers last year, and infy just plans to honor those offers.

Clear the exams first, and then before you are supposed to join (a fortnight or so before), let them know that you haven't got your results yet. they should give you an alternate joining date. its not certain that the alternate date will be given to you right away, and you might have to wait very long for it.

2)And assuming the date is correct, How long will the training be for good CSE background student, will it be the same time as a Mech or ECE or BT student, or will it be just 2.5 months or so?
3)Heard the training is so hectic that we hardly have any time for anything else, so Do u think my cat plans wont materialise?

I think your joining and your seniors are two Mutually Exclusive Events. So, why do you want that Infosys should follow same timeline for both of
your batches. Infosys is not a university where time for joining is fixed and recruitment and joining is given as per the requirements and need of the company.

2)And assuming the date is correct, How long will the training be for good CSE background student, will it be the same time as a Mech or ECE or BT student, or will it be just 2.5 months or so?

Infosys will conduct a test on your joining to test your skill in Computer Science. If a threshold number of people pass this test then a short term training that will last for about 2months will be conducted otherwise 4 months long cycle one.

It is hectic, but you can surely plan your ways. You will have to manage your time well.

Just to add what Palak said .... U can expect ur joining date btw 20 June to 15 nov (Tentative) and the training duration has increased for Comp Sc guya as well as Non Comp Sc guys ......

Training is hectic but it is fun over here u can have ur class mates over the night in the cubicle sipping coffee and preparing for the exams as in the college.... It is a life time expeience ...

Ping me for any queries and i will try to answer that to the best of my knowledge

1) Why cant they have it at June? if you dont get your marks by then, you can very well request for a new joining date. its a valid reason and i do feel they will honour it.

2) A CSE graduate will have the option of joining a fast cycle. there would be a test and if you clear it, you join the fast cycle. training is done in 1.5 to 2 months. but if you join long cycle, training will take 5 months (approx)

3) Its really hectic, but then, i know people who have sailed through it. they play in the facilities the whole day (i mean after class, while we used to sit through the night studying) and still clear the exams with better marks than us. so its all on how good you are. for a comp science graduate, things thought there are nothing new. so it should be easy.

considering you join in June, and get into long cycle, you shld be out by october. it then becomes very tough for CAT preparation. but then thats totally on your ability. incase your into short cycle, then you are out by August, and you can certainly bell the CAT. :)

I have my infy joining on July,09.I am planning for CAT09.
I like to know about the bonds...What if I quit
1)During training?
2)Probation period
3) after that?
AND what if I fail to pass during training?

One more thin is that I'm CS student ...What I need to do to get into the short cycle?

What is present duration of training?
